Well i use 50 ppm and is roughly as I posted in previous post

How often do you reset the Consumption meter that displys your km/l ?

Reset of meter km/l
Diesel 50 ppm or 500ppm
When last was it serviced
Diesel Filter
Load carried
Average speed also has influence on the computer to work out consumption
Where do you fill up? Cause there can be mixture of paraffin in?

all related to Consumption issues.

Lately being resetting every morning.
I have tried both 50 and 500. To empty and refill of course
Car was serviced 2 months ago
Very rarely have a load
Being keeping to speed limit. Have enough tickets
Use Shell service stations

Ok please stop resetting the counter as this is used to calculate the consumption using distance traveled and average speed. Try and only reset the interval at every tank fill up with Diesel 50 ppm. I would not try using 500 in my car though :fencelook:

this will mean that the average consumption is calculated per tank and not per trip, as this stage. If the car was serviced it is not necessarily to say they did change the diesel filter!

Try it for a month and c where you end up.

Where do you reside what area.

I had the filter replaced yesterday and the system reset. Today highway driving at around 140 the consumption indicator showed 4.5 which compared to last week at 7 o looks like there is a difference.
I will be using 50 only from now. Thank you for that advise

hey hussain. how many km's do you have on your car?
also, if you dont still have motorplan, whet did the filter and recalibration cost?
and how long did it take? i dont have a dealership in my one horse town...

my consumption is not that bad...but there is no way i will be getting 4.5 at 120kmph

I only use Sasol diesel ... so thats very few petrol stations .. Xcel, Sasol and some others ... and of course only 50 ppm

I have a 2006 320d with autobox (steptronic) 65k on the clock ... I drive very short distances ... +-5km to work and I get about 8.5l/100 and i dont drive economically ...

On highways 135 with cruise control i get around 8l/100

Recently I drove down to the kruger averaging 110 I did about 5.4l/100 ... I did 1064km on 58l and that did include a lot of overtaking with kick down
I always though that it should be more efficient but somewhow above 120 it really makes a big difference (more thirsty) ...

I think around 8.5l/100 for pure town driving is more or less correct for these older models especially in the highveld ... you didnt mention, are you in the highveld ? I think a dpf or cat removal could make quite a big difference though.

Hey bud

I just hit 150k on my car.
It is out of plan.
Had a buddy from BMW do it for me. Replaced the filters (2) original BMW and did the diagnostics and reset and charged me R850 total.

thabazimbi...
we only have an excel with 50ppm. but i dont think there is any real difference between the fuel stations. as lonv as its a busy station the quality should be fine.

8.5 is very bad. but i have never done a complete tank in town. half my commute is at 100kmph and the other half 130kmph. with 10% town driving in the mix and I get 6.1 to 6.5.

My consumption usually sits around 6l when I am driving over 120km/h. I think I should look into that as well. Though my consumption sounds very similar to m0lt3n's

Nothing is stopping you from getting the same results my car has now got 118k on and i get 6.2 in the Town and 4.5 on open road with avg speed of 130km/h speed control
