well seeing as billybawb did not post it up on the forum for sale it says alot... he probably found too may things to fix on it or a big nasty problem...

If anyone is interested in it i would PM billybawb and ask him about it the price is not bad i think...

To be honest I don't blame him one bit for not advertising it here. he was really excited when he first got it and to become a member of the BMW club, and everything he tried to do or discuss on the forum the guys tore to shreds, everybody gave him such a hard time it's probably put him off BMW for life.

I think you guys are just finishing the BMW experience off nicely for him with the comments in this thread.

We need to learn to be a little more supportive of new members and rather try provide some constructive help as opposed to just shoving our own views on them.

GLWS billybawb

well in part i dont really want him to find a buyer i like his input on the forum :fencelook: i also really like the car and would seriously look at buying it if i was looking for one...

i dont know how much of your comment is aimed at me but i always try give fair helpful comments... if you feel i victimized billybob please tell me where as that was not my intention and i would like to correct it...

No certainly not aimed at you, was just a general thing I spotted, the guys like shredded everything he said/did then he sortof stopped posting, now he's selling......

Seats are shot, but its also made to look worse because of the interior colour. Had that been a dark interior, it wouldnt look as bad. Rest of car looks ok.

In defense of those ripping it apart, I was about to joke about it a little until I heard the seller was on this forum. Not sure if he did already, but I think he would have received more positive feedback had it advertised on here. Guys on this forum are usually quite supportive of fellow fanatics.

Edit* Just read Rick's last post - guess I was wrong, sorry.

Yeah, uhm, riiiiight... I was going to laugh this off, but stuff it - I'll bite and add my 2c.

Honestly, I was up until 2 AM this morning posting the Honda ad on a few local forums, etc, and by the time I was done with that, I was exhausted and really couldn't have been bothered with taking the time to post the M3 on the forums as well.

Additionally, no - I'm not overly inclined to post the car on the Fanatics forum, as Rick kinda hits the nail on the head - the car needs work, a lot of it, to get it to where it should be, which I've openly admitted from the start, and a significant percentage of the forum members around here seem to be categorized into 3 kinds of people:
1) Know-it-all jackasses that drive clapped out wrecks, yet have nothing positive to say about other people's cars.
2) Fast-and-furious wannabe's that believe it's about "how you stand by your car", and try getting into a pissing contest with "Ah, but his is better than yours, nyaaa-nyaaa"
and 3) Shopper stoppers that post in every single for sale thread going "Jirre, I wish I had the money for this"

If you guys must know my reasoning - fully knowing what I was getting myself into, it's been something I was happy to undertake, until I unexpectedly found an awesome house in Buccleuch for me and the girlfriend, moved in over the Christmas season, and now have months ahead of Mr Superbawb DIY to do around the house in terms of installing additional lighting outside, putting up shelving in the bar, bookcases, setting up the study/computer room the way we want it, having a lapa put up, getting extra garages built, etc etc etc - so considering the time and finances involved in getting the house the way we want it, means the M3 is going to be standing in the garage doing nothing for 3-4 months, translating into some of the other cars having to sleep outside until the additional garages are built.

So I'd rather flog the M3 and the Honda, consolidate the capital into a comfortable interim daily driver and a bike (which takes up less space), and get another M3 later down the line when I have the garage space and everything set up to work on it - even if it means I have to contend with a few clowns coming around that don't have the guts to tell you to your face that the car's not what they're looking for - then go and slate it on a public forum afterwards.

That being said, I'm still toying with the idea in the back of my mind that I should rather swing a plan to park it off at my old place, cover it up, and get back to it in a couple of months when we're done with the house. I know the car's rough, but it's got potential and it's mechanically sound, so plowing another R30-40k into it to get it to where I want it will still work me out cheaper than the average R130-140k asking price for a clean 3.0 M3 Coupe - and by the same token, I'll know what went into the car, as opposed to having to take a seller's word for a car that might blow its motor the next day.

Mileage-wise, the ECU and odo correspond on the claimed mileage - and the naysayers obviously have no clue about how quickly titan gray leather can wear when disregarded, sun-exposed and not cared for properly... but okay, 250 000 km it is - if you say so.

Thanks for the comments on the ad and the car - so good to know that the crowd of people supposed to be fanatics about the cars and projects are actually keyboard warriors and mechanics with tiny cocks, boring jobs and sad lives to have to resort to ridiculing perfectly legitimate ads based on assumption and opinion alone.

Ironic how those ridiculing the cars are never the ones willing to step up cash-in-hand to make an actual offer, and do the work themselves to get the car to where they think the car should be.

Bawb, out.

I totally agree with rick540, I also had my 4dr M3 for sale on the forum, I removed it, due to the comments that I got from 2 of the BMW fanatics users. It puts a whole negative image to the car.

Dangggg... what was sad to Billy that got him so mad? I must have missed something:sleep:

Huh? What seems pissed off about that?

Nah, not pissed at all... I'm significantly more unsavory than that when I'm pissed. ;)

I just get erked by people talking out of their asses with smartass remarks, degrading an ad with assumption and all types of criticisms. I've had the car for a month - if I'd pulled it through my ass and rendered it in the state it's in, fine, I deserve to be flamed. But instead, I drop cash on the car to start fixing it up, then decide to sell the car for what's a very fair price based on the condition, and get the peanut gallery piping up about how shoddy it is.

Same goes for Rick's M5 - it may not be the cleanest showroom perfect E34 M5 ever, but it's getting there - it's mechanically flawless, redone by someone who's put a fortune and many many man-hours into the vehicle, and yet some clownshoes still have criticisms to lodge against the car.

I'm simply saying - if you don't like it, don't buy it - it's as simple as that. But don't derail someone's thread or start a whole new one to slate the vehicle or the money spent on the vehicle, when you're not even in the market to buy something in the first place, and thus, in no position to appreciate it.

Dude I understand your frustration, but seriously with name calling?

What do you expect from people? You should have expect what people were going to say, is the internet. Is the same thing I said to babyboss with his 135i...

You can take it with salt on wound, but you can also think of it from another angle...

Why so many comment on your car? BECAUSE IS AN ICON! Yes like you said, people want it and love to have it, but hey maybe they are not as fortunate as you! You shouldn't worry about what people is saying about your car, because is worth it for them to talk about it bud:thumbs: You should worry if nobody is talking about your car and just avoiding it:=):

Yes call me Dr. Phil, but enough with the language...:blab:

Yikez guys , the drama has commenced, must say though GLWS , when you first purchased the car was really excited to see the progress you could make because I want to do the same project next year when funds open up again . Thanks but name calling :thumbdo: . Unnecessary man .

Dude I think you should make a plan and hang on to it, after the last months work on mine, I can seriously say that when they do start looking good it's a fantastic feeling to look at it and say "Ive done all that"

I have high hopes for this restore, rather hang on for six months than sell it outright, you will probably always wonder how it would have turned out if you sell.

Well, apologies if name calling offends, but it's hardly directed at each and every forum member mate - sorry if it comes across that way..

Unfortunately, as much as tcal says I should "woosaah" and disregard what's said, maybe the other guys on the forum taking the name calling personally should do the same - especially when it's not directed at them?

@ Rick - I reckon you're right bud. I'll let the M3 hang for sale till the end of the week - if I don't get R80k for it, I'll keep it. Too bad that scenario means the Honda will have to go towards a daily driver, as opposed to the pearler Yamaha R1 I got offered for it - but I'll rectify the bike situation later in the year then, around spring time or so.

Don't flog the car billybob
you will regret it later store it or stick it under a carport
, I was in the same situation I put buckets full of cash into a opel corsa had a 2.0 conversion done to the car everything new all the mechanical parts replaced new rims tyres .....and the list goes on. Then the wife started learning to drive in it as she dident want to drive the e90 I had at that time . She was learning quite well then she was in the car with me one day when I had a short run against a GTI. And I was giving it carrots after that she would not get in the car and she did not feel safe in it ... I ended up swapping it for a clean fiat siecento 1.1 with a whole 40kw of power from a local dealer for the wife . I regret it to this day and it really bothers me still all I needed to do was the front seats . After I got rid of it the guy put it in the back of a truck and killed it when he was racing .its sad
It was a machine ..

Keep the M billybob. I'm in the same boat as you as I bought a house that I am renovating so its taking all resources at the moment (cash, time, energy etc) and as much as I am tempted to sell my M to finance some of the renovations I am just going to resist that thought until I am left with no other option. Nobody will appreciate the time, money and effort that you have already invested in your car like you would. You have already done a lot of work on the car in a short time and once you get back to working on it, you will quickly get it to the condition you are targeting.

Bawb,

Sorry if this is a "hijack"

i was exactly you (maybe worse), six years ago on jap crap 4wd forum which i wont diss here, where i got anal F-ed on a similar yeared vehicle, got sold a bum turbo for 10k when i started modding, car broke down severel times, a repsray job that went horribly wrong( before the days of wrapping), my mechanics stole parts off my car, flip it , now that i think of it, my bleddy wheel flew off the car on zwartkopz go kart track because dumb asses at Hi Qi fitted incorrect bolts to aftermarket mags of mine, and ripped whole front fender and wiring off.

and i was also the laughing stock of a very sad joke, where at the end of the day sat with only my house and broken car, broken transmission ( and has murphy would have it , the only guy who cud repair the gearbox for under 20k, passed away in a horrible accident( God bless his soul) )not knowing how i am going to make the next house payment, also up till 3 in the morning typing 10 page SA's of harsh repsonses on the forum.

My wife fell pregnant, and my business partner took me for over a million mking drums of cable "dissapear" of sites. All within 2 months

It made me so mad i literally wanted to wait for the people concerned after work and "off" them. But i kept telling myself "vegence is not mine"

It's taken me 6 years and 200k later on the car alone to recover, and had to face the humiliation with my wife and family, and all i can say is:

WHAT DOESN"T KILL YOU, MAKES YOU STRONGER.

You cant blame the guys on the forum for the ridicule, i bet if it wasnt brought to our attention by rick540 (goodshow to him), we'd all be having a go, even you. ( Trust me, i've had many years and worse scenario to work and think this all thru)

It's what us motorsport petrol heads do....

( And i'm saying this now, knowing that i drive an M5 OFF motorplan because what i really like i cant afford with motorplan, and never have been able to, and am willing to take the gamble and deal with the punishment, but i think that what's makes BMW FANATICS, different from ever other bloke that drives a boring BMW just because of the motorplan, or any brand for that matter)

2 c worth

OH YES: I can really help with the electrical and lighting side for your house. PM me , i work for a wholesaler in Midrand, and I R is a qualified sparky)

Peace - Out

Well said Stig - I find this to be one of a few forums on the internet which is quite civilized and members are thoughtful of things they say.

I suppose sometimes threads like this just need to stand as a reminder that as Stig said - We are fanatics and love our cars, some are virtually besotted with their BMW's and people are going to say the wrong things.

Good Luck with the ///M if you keep or if you sell.
