I need OD for the fronts between 24" and say 24.5"

315/30R18 98Y -> OD=26 in

Too large OD for fronts
Too skinny for rears

265/35R18 93Y -> OD = 25.31 in.

Too large OD for fronts

285/30R18 93Y -> OD = 24.70 in

This is getting close - If I relax my OD spec slightly this might just be the answer.

Every day I get slightly closer to the solution.:ty:

thought it might help if you find commons sizes :)

315/30R18 98Y was for the rear but i think i misread your rear width :rollsmile:

i think you will probably find these sizes in the US... they run very odd rim and tire sizes there

Youv'e already helped me alot:rollsmile:

I'm only looking in the USA/UK, previously I looked in SA but as soon as a supplier doesn't have one in stock, or easily obtainable from the SA Tyre Mafia, he will just tell you that they don't make that size. If you then show him that they actually do, he starts getting pissed, and his gomgat pelle start moving closer so they can bliksem you.

I dont think you will find road tires that will look identical, profilewise, to racing slicks.

also, they come in wierd sizes, like http://www.speedmerchants.com/collections/michelin-racing-slicks

I agree, but I want to see how close I can get.

I've finally got some (informal) confirmation on the wheel sizes on the Matech 2008 VLN Ford GT GT1.

Yokohama Advan A005 Racing Slicks
Rears 320/710R18 => OD=27.9"
Fronts 210/650R18 => OD=25.6"

I think this is very close to what I see on looking at the pics.

I don't want to drive to the local shop with racing slicks, so I'm looking for the closest road-legal semi-slicks I can find.

The closest I have found thus far is:

Mickey Thompson Street Radial II
R: 345/35-18 => OD=27.49 in.
F: 315/30-18 => OD=25.50 in.

Pretty close, but the fronts are a bit wide and difficult to park the car.

So I'll keep on looking - at least I have a better clue for what I'm looking for.

Here's some pics of the Matech 2008 VLN Ford GT GT1.

OK, I've now searched up to the point that I got a page saying; "You have reached the end of the Internet".

The best combination I have found is still:

Mickey Thompson Street Radial II
R: 345/35-18 => OD=27.49 in.
F: 315/30-18 => OD=25.50 in.

They look quite cool also:

The next trick is now how the hell do I get hold of them:

I've dealt with the local agents ATS-Motorsport before and they're just interested in selling you what they have. I've given up on them as I'm sick and tired of hearing MKS (Mekêniek Kak Stories).

Any Ideas?

First Step would be to call Imraam at Xtreme Motorsport. He has imported a number of specific parts for me for my e46 M3.

If Imraam is not able to help you I would drop Jerry at Import Parts a line. I sourced a shed load of JDM stuff through him for my R33 GTR.

Failing which I would try Gunther at G&A. They do tons of imported race gear.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

found your rear tires :rollsmile:

BFGoodrich g-Force Drag Radial 345-30-18
phpThumb.php

Thanks mate.
As you may have noticed, I have a pretty unstable personality. So I changed my mind (a bit).

ATM I'm pretty set on:

Mickey Thompson Street Radial II
R: 345/35-18 => OD=27.49 in.
F: 315/30-18 => OD=25.50 in.

Please find those for me.:rollsmile:

My experience is similar. Last year about Sept I actually got a quote from them for stuff, and when I wanted to order, all the MKS started. Then this problem and then that problem, so I gave up. Tried again later in Nov - same story.

I know my business is pisswilly to them, but they have lost it anyway.

I tried the three contacts that Nick gave me above and got the following response:

1) One supplier just didn't respond.
2) The second referred me back to ATS Motorsports. (that don't want to sell the tyres to me)
3) The third indicated that they didn't import tyres any-more - they had to get certificates from SABS and the tyres carried 30% import duty - too much hassle.

So It seems I'm back to square one.

I can import them directly from Summit Racing in the USA, pay an enormous freight cost, the 30% customs duty, and a millions and more other little things. plus probably a bribe or two.

The other option is to get other tyres that might be more easily obtainable, so my search starts from scratch.

BTW, does anybody think the following tyres would be SA street legal?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/BigPi...435ZR8A6&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

I'm thinking perhaps not. Opinions/help please - thanks.
