For a while now, discussed with the wife to replace her E90 330i with a X3........ Moddy night something happened and we decided on something else, for the first time , followed the heart and put the mind on the side :).
Went and fetch this lady yesterday.

Congrats on your Silverstone beast @Gordvisr. More pics would be great you know ;)
Thank you, trying to twist the SO's arm, she must take the one'r together with the 330 sell it and buy her something else :) . Will share some when i have some time, fetched it on Tuesday, ran up and down to close the deal, had a look at a blue one first , on pics that one looked better but after driving it not so much, then ran after this one, got home Tuesday late and up the next morning for work. Have an issue with the sunroof, opened it and now it wont close, it opened only on the one side. tried sorting that out last night but ran out of time. It was jumped started, so i was thinking if the car needs a reset or what as the PDC stopped working, the front roof light and no sound from the radio.

Congrats!

I am not sure what module this is anymore - might be FRM or ZGW - could just need to be recoded or may need to be replaced. Always an issue when cars sit unfortunately or have low battery voltage. Worth reaching out to one of the guys that does this (eg Danny?) to have a look

What a beast congrats bud and wish you many many happy kms!

On the sunroof try a reset - think you hold the button up for a few minutes while it does a close open close procedure.

So we had a bit of a smoking issue a week after purchase. It was three thing that could have caused this, either, turbo's, valve stem seals or the vent valves on the block. The way it smoked gave me indication that it might be the turbo's, and this morning started getting a whining noise from them, for now the car is parked, will start saving up to replace them. SO want to sell, i said no 🤣

It has been a joy full past two months.

Before and after i have purchased her, i have heard many times it is a slow car, rather go for 135i,it is too small, too heavy on fuel etc..

Well i still decided to follow my heart and i can tell you not one day i am disapointed in my decision . Yes it is not a 135i but still not a slow car.
Fuel consumption on mixed driving about 8.2km/l.

Had some fun with other cars and also surprisingly could give out a hiding.( Audi 2.0t, Polo Gti, Golf V Gti )
This car has put a smile on my face everytime i open the garrage door and everytime she gets started up.
Driving through corners, on the open road no matter where , it is just soooo fun to drive, have not taken her on a long trip yet but might happen soon.

Space is not a problem, the size from outside is also a bit descieving.
Space at the rear also not bad. Boot capacity really not bad either.

Only three mods that i would like to do in the near future is to bring the full power output from the engine.
The sound upgrade that i have seen Gavsadler did on his 130i and then the M2 wheel upgrade.

Thanks for reading

So this car had been in my ownership for just a bit over six years now. I really cannot complain about anything on this car. Mileage when bought, just over 150 K km, now at 217XXX km, oils and filters done at BMW every odd 10 000km , did not cost me an arm or a leg, replaced oil cooler seals at about 200 K mark including idlers and serpentine belt, replaced starter motor, and front dampers. This car still pulls like a train and not even using oil between services. To the next six years.

Stripped of the intake, from info i gatehered my problem was the "oil seperator" inside the valve covers, clean oil blew through the turbo's , they started to make some noise. When i have some more time on my hands will strip off completely together with the valve covers and get all the replacement parts to fix her up.20220818_103310.jpg20220818_103248.jpg

So we shall learn it ourself ...
Some more progress inbetween dropping and fetching the other car for oil service. I see downpipes was done, lekker, just need to follow the harness on this "piggy"or whatever it is, want to remove it.20221003_150905.jpg20221003_150844.jpg
