Overall still the best interior upgrade. I haven't played around with the latest nbt evo systems, but for something made in 2010 this CIC is very good, the maps are usually spot on, even outside South Africa. The interface is very intuitive.

Another cool thing is the maps have a 3D MODE, and certain landmarks appear on the screen, example if you drive past the dome in north riding, you will see a graphic of the dome

after weeks of scouring the eBay and local parts breakers, I have finally managed to collate all the components needed to retrofit CIC into my non I drive 2006 323.

Would like to document the whole process here from disassembly to programming, perhaps we can have one definitive go-to thread. Most info I've found on the web has been frustratingly fragmented.

Looking to start off at beeline spares and work my way through various stores that normally strip bmws. I'm based in Johannesburg

Hindsight being 20/20 , if I had to do the retrofit again , I would have gone ebay for the CIC radio, controller, screen and cable.In particular a shop called straight six auto, u can reach out to them on Instagram , good prices.

Next is the interior trim pieces. The climate control bezel etc , straight to dealer. They are surprisingly not expensive.

The only thing I would buy locally would be the double hump dash.For that try MD house, there you can also buy old wiring harness to cobble together ur own harness

From my experience some of these local breakers are extortionist in the pricing.

One more thing to note , you absolutely need to get a CIC unit from a very late model car for the retrofit to work.The later software has a weakness/backdoor that you exploit to virginize the unit
