Guys. Need to know if the orphanage has an lcdnor normal tv. Reason so I know if I must give an hdmi cablenor just plain rca...

I popped in to the house this afternoon, and viewed their flat screen TV.
It is solidly (well) secured to the wall with a bracket, but with a bit of feeling around behind the TV all I could find was a dual set (3) of RCA plugs, no normal RF input socket.

Okay thanks bud, if its a flat screen it has to have hdmi, so will bring both and we can just see what fits.

Also....a close buddy of mine has made a wonderful contribution, so we managed to get them an xbox kinect as well, with 3 games and two controllers :)

Ok I'll get child nr2 what she needs and her want list. Some more sponsorship from corporates coming from too...will give feedback once they are confirmed

Hi guys,

I have found out that this is not a registered NPO or charity.
My opinion is Id rather help a registered organization. I feel sorry for these kids and all, but would rather put my efforts towards helping a charity thats actually registered.

Even if we only get stuff for the kids, its just against my own values of doing it. I dont give the begger at the robot money either.
Theres millions of orphanages out there that are registered, and other organizations like barking mad.
Its a non-registered facility, which means no corporate will sponsor.

Ive had a chat with other members and the feeling is mutual.

Theres enough time, I suggest we rather elect a registered charity and help them out. With that I can also secure more sponsorship.

Im sorry, but with finding out this is not a registered NPO I will not make contributions to this cause. If we elect a registered and legitimate charity, I will be onboard with this 110%

I don't agree with Tiaan at all :fencelook:

Jokes jokes.
I'm with Tiaan, I'm all for helping a registered organization.
Do feel bad for not helping these lil kids out but just the way I feel

I agree with Tiaan, i hope this doesnt come out wrong..
There are 11 kids on this list with requests that seem a bit "demanding".
They not really cheap items, for example. Nike school bag is +/- R300.00
Now with the price of one item i could possibly make 5 kids happy with a toy each.
Its just my opinion and i feel that when it comes to charity, knowing i made 5 kids smile is more rewarding than making just one.
Whatever you`ll choose, i'll try to pitch in and contribute.

Any reason why they would not be registered?

I prefer a registered charity as well and agree with Rays sentiments above.

I have already spent money on gifts, I agree some of the gifts are expensive but you don't have to buy exactly what they want, any sports bag will be able to do the job.

ColdFusion has spent a lot on stationary already.

For those that want to support please do.

Next time we just make sure we get a register NPO. I apologize for this as I did not even think of that. I am still learning.

:sorry:

+1 on the above.

I feel there is more needy kids out there that will be satisfied to just get a decent meal yet alone get gifts.

Im not one to judge as i always give where i can but as Ray making 5 kids happy is better than one.
Lets find a more needy registered org and im sure more people will jump assist.

xbox, dstv, branded cloths are not a necessity. Some of us dont even have this.

This is just my thoughts and yes whatever the decision is i will be doing what i can.

Sorry on another note, I dont mind giving my banking details as i work for a bank and dont pay banking charges.

It is with a heavy heart that I going to withdraw as an organiser for this event. I do not have the personal time to start over.

I must apologise for my mistake in going for unregistered orphanage, lesson learnt.

I will still donate and if possible attend the run.

I am truly sorry.
:sorry:

Dude don't withdraw.

I'm my opinion nobody is putting a gun to anyone's head saying that they have to sponsor. It's up to the individual weather he wants to fork out the cash of not. I get that it is expensive and a lot more van be done with that money..... however at the start of this thread why didn't these things get discussed? Why are you'll giving opinions now and not then
Now the organiser wants to quit which isn't not right given all the effort he's put in already

I understand the registration implications too this was an oversight. Let us know what's going for what, I am not available to attend the runs but if you guys want the items I have got so far (stationery + nr 10s items, did not buy a 1k brandname jean though as I cannot justify that either.) Just let me know and we can make a plan to collect.

For now I shall keep the items for a next one until a decision is made.
