How come you are the only one that cannot see the pics?

No one else is complaining?

Probably you have a virus that does not allow you to see the pics I have posted? :dunno:

Nothing wrong with my eyesight thanks, and I wasn't complaining either.

Car is on 130k and is mechanically sound with strong compression (hot 160-165) all cylinders.

No stress cracks visible on boot floor or under seat or spring pads.

Typical of MP the motor has a honey colour to it but it cleaned very quickly once detergents were applied.

So here come the pics:

Pay particular attention to the above pic and you will notice that the both leading and trailing tabs on the exhaust hub are highly polished.
This is due to seals not keeping pressure and the hub "oscillates" for want of a better word.....if any of you can think of a better word please let me know I have racked my brain looking for the correct descriptor.

This is what the oil pump disc looks like with the tabs "oscillating/rocking" back and forth. This eventually leads to the hubs braking and the consequences are catastrophic

I tried to get a good representation of oil seepage past the seals.
The following is a series of pics of the inlet can piston with seepage visible.

Notice how this side has a clean upper area which implies oil seepage.

and this is cleaned and ready for seals.

New seals fitted compare to the pic above

Exhaust piston shows a lot more discolouration.

Cleaned and fitted with new seals

The magnifying glass I use to verify the integrity of the seals once inserted and extracted from their chambers.
small precaution to make sure that I have not nicked an edge on the seals whilst inserting them.

Bolts were checked for tightness...all good

All good so hub was cleaned and replaced

Rattle kit for inlet cam

Just started it now and it sounds glorious.
I rate this engine highly....Gareth has done a good deal in getting this car
I shall take it for a drive (with Gareth) just now around our test circuit and see how it performs.
Last time around the test track it battled to deliver in 6th gear at 1000rpm...I am positive that this time round it will deliver.

A sweet and smooth sounding s54 is absolute panacea.

I know that BMW produces very quick cars nowadays however they lack the soul of the M motors.......I guess I am old school.
