I have a manual,i prefer it better than the auto.

tried to trade mine in at zambise bmw I was only offered R120 000 for it,reason,ac schnithzer not bmw approved,no run flat tyres, and motor plan nexpired, they also say all the options on the car does not even be considered when trading it in

decided to keep it until it retires to the scrap yard

note mine is 2008,m/sport with all the bells and whistles, even electric tow bar, tires are brand new
Unfortunately they only consider the extra options the car has when they're reselling the car....

Eish, sorry colin, is it because BMW didnt fit the AC rims?

But screw BMW, you are keeping that beauty of yours.

So, got to drive the car today

Not that impressed. My Honda Type S was a much more exciting drive and far more responsive. The only area the 330d would have it beat is in the luxury department

For town driving I did not feel much of a difference compared to the 320d, once on the highway then yes she flies

Think I will be looking for a 320d Exclusive instead now

Nonetheless thanks for all the help guys

maybe that one is a dud, drive a couple before you say it isn't responsive.i know on mine if I I accelerate hard the rear starts breaking away, traction control light on the dash then lights up like a xmas tree

I did test drive a 320d and was not impressed,330d just has more get up and go for me

I have to agree with you on the fact that it is not such a lively car from pull away as my friend's 320d (2011 model) feels more lively from standing start. Mine flies when I put foot down (it is a 2008 pre LCI auto) and certainly moves when overtaking, but on the whole the 320d feels more lively and of course, is much more economical than mine. I often surprise myself with the overtaking ability of these cars, even on small throttle openings, it goes very well. BUT, I still prefer the 330d over the 320d. It is just me, I guess.

Thanks for all the advise guys! The money for my bakkie cleared this morning so I can go view this vehicle tomorrow and hopefully bring her home this weekend...that is if all seems well upon inspection and drive

Hope I won't regret going with a manual as I do admit, auto's can be convenient. Will I be able to do software and downpipe on this one or is it not recommended for a manual 330d?

You absolutely have to do software and downpipe on a pre-lci!! They feel a little bit disappointing without it, but trust me and ask a couple of other guys on here, software completely alters the car! Manual is perfect as well for software, ask Andy, and he'll tell you. My pre lci 330d, before software my mate in his Audi 2.0t would kil me, after software and dp it wasn't even a contest in my favour! Andy with his manual pre lci 330d is running with the strongest Z4M's and M3's out there!

Thanks my friend works for BMW and the guys at work told him the same, apparently I should try the LCI 330d with an auto box

And onto another note...said friend has a new 135i Msport (company car nogal) which he brought around to my place so I can test drive

What a car and I was very amazed at the ride comfort even considering the lowered suspension and big rims, no idea how BMW does it but it works

Onto the test drive....HELL, I have never driven anything that accelerates at the speed this thing does, the km/h just keeps climbing effortlessly with no end in sight. Also the subtle prrr from the motor when cruising around the city is mesmorizing

An itch has developed that should not be scratched :fencelook:

I think if you went for a drive in someone's modded 330d you will easily be convinced. It can simply not be described how the car is transformed.

And to answer your question yes my car does around 50% highway driving and I average 750-850km per tank depending on how much highway I do.

There's a 309whp + 700nm E90 330d pre-LCI in Durban that will convince you on the spot

We had a 2007 330d manual as a pool car at the previous company. I agree, the throttle response was a little lacklustre but once you put your foot down that thing really put a smile on your face. Who would've thought that the sound of a Diesel can put such a smile on your face!

Personally, I'm very impressed with the new petrol 2L cars BMW brought out, especially in the F30's. I've had one for two years and I rated that engine much higher than the Diesel in that series.

I still feel a pang of guilt getting rid of my F30, but the km's on that car was getting a little high and I felt it when I traded the car in. Biggest issue for me on the F30 Sport was the seats - gawd those things were hard an uncomfortable!

Gert is that you? I have not even considered the 320 F30 yet, I will organize a test drive. I have seen some of them 2nd hand with 15 000/20 000kms going for very reasonable prices. Definitely an option

So this weekend I decided to rather keep my bakkie, someone had bought it already but we had not signed a Sale Agreement. I called him and asked if he would understand if I wanted to transfer his money back and keep the bakkie, luckily he was very accommodating and even said I am probably making the right choice and he does not want to get in the way of that.

This is after thinking long and hard about it. Summer time is here and I enjoy fishing and kayaking. If I buy a luxury sedan I will not be able to go on any adventures this summer. It's a Corsa Utility 1.7Dti 2009 model with 90 000kms on the clock. After blanking off the EGR valve and doing a decat she has been returning 20km+/litre of diesel for mixed driving and to be honest it's a very nippy and fun bakkie to drive...replacing it is not going to be easy

Will keep it for another 5 years and rather upgrade the wife's car first so the search will still continue

Yessir ;) The biggest joke is that I got R240k for my F30, and paid R440k for it literally 2 years ago and did only 60k with it. That broke my heart like you cannot believe. So yes, there's good deals out the on F30's as there's so many of them going for sale now.
