Flex disc bolts

I'm replacing the drive shaft flex disc (and some other stuff) on an E36 323i - would've been finished but couldn't get the center support bearing off for the life of me. Anyway, it gives me some more time to sort out other issues.

The flex disc bolts are not all of the same grade. They are the same size but three are rated 10.9 and the other three are 8.8.

The Bentley manual gives torque settings for both grades. Could I reuse these or should they all be of the same grade? The nuts are normal ones and not the self locking ones but I'll use the blue Loctite 242 equivalent.

8.8 is a tensile rating ( normally a mild steel is 8.8 ) and 10.9 is high tensile .
IMHO replace them all with 10.9 bolts and nuts .( Nuts may be " crush " type -look at the hole on the top where the bolt thread comes out - it is oval .)
Good luck .

get new bolts they not expensive its silly not to... if it was an expensive part you could look at maybe reusing...

You should actually replace the bolts as well when you replace the flex disc.

I got 6 new crush nuts but couldn't get 10.9 bolts, only 8.8. Their thread is much longer, meaning the non-threaded part does not cover the flex disc by about 2 or 3 mm. Actually, if one take in account the width of the flange the old bolts' thread wouldn't cover the entire width of the flex disc, either. Would this be a problem? I'm thinking of keeping the three 10.9 bolts and replacing the 8.8 ones.

Rather use all 6 8.8 than mixing .If the thread is longer it will work , as it is in the metal sleeve .
