fitting multi function steering controls

I have a bmw e46 320d, it currently has a blank bit of plastic on the steering wheel, i am wondering if it would be a straight swap for the MLF, i understand that the cruise control probably won't work but i want the buttons for my stereo thanks

My son has a 1999 E46 328i which had the steering wheel with the blanks on the side. I googled how to fit the speed control and bought a similar steering wheel but with buttons from Gizmo and fitted that. Also did the necessary wiring to get the cruise to work. I know that the radio controls also work off the steering wheel but i did not have to do any wiring for that. The wiring for the cruise is not difficult so google the instructions. I have two spare steering wheels with buttons available should you be interested

Sorry Billy, only now noticed that you are in England!!!! My son left last week Wednesday to visit friends so could have sent one of the wheels with him (minus the air bag of course) had i known.
