Hi,

I bought the M Performance carbon boot spoiler recently, does anyone know who can do a meticulous fitment in GP.

Thanks

if its that red 3M tape, it will stick and not come off

Takes about 3 people to fit it correctly, two to hold, and one to measure before peeling the backing tape off.

just make sure its in the correct place, before sticking.

once it sticks, you will battle to get it off again

or see if lz can help

i saw one thats a bit off the other day in town, placed to far forward, so even if you alone move it correctly into place, mark it off with tape. pull off backing tape, hold above boot lid to see if its in the right spots as marked and stick down.

They easy to fit... I fitted mine myself... Heres what i did.

1. Applied the 2 way tape to the spoiler itself.
2. Before removing the protective layer of the 2 way tape, place and position the spoiler on the boot.
3. Use masking tape to hold it down once positioned.
4. Stick the masking tape over the middle of the spoiler, overlap it on the bootlid.
5. Stick masking tape over the edges of the spoiler and overlap it onto the bootlid.
6. Neatly and carefully cut the masking tape where the spoiler meets the bootlid. The idea of it is to have a "template" of where the spoiler should be placed once the protective layer of the 2 way tape is removed.
7. Remove the protective layer of the 2 way tape and pleace between the masking tape on the bootlid.
8. Remove masking tape
9. Take pictures
10. Post the pictures on the forum

To remove it, use fishing line as mentioned. Then remove the old 2 way tape and polish the area before applying the new spoiler.

Can you post a pic of what the underside of the spoiler looks like.
Mine is from Hong Kong & doesn't look like a good fit:thumbdo:

*revived*

So looking for some of the 3M tape mentioned earlier in this post.
Have the Carbon spoiler to be fitted to a white F30 M-Sport.

I've used the tape that supplied with the spoiler. Epic fail. One afternoon parked in the sun and the stuff came loose.

Then used the automotive double sided tape supplied by most retailers. *sellotape* and this also has similar issues.

I'm short of using the outdoor use 80kg permahold tape at the moment, unless someone can perhaps find me the proper 3M stuff? (I suspect Tommy may have some around looking through old posts *hint*)

Taking the spoiler off I used dental floss in a saw motion. The floss is thin and good enough to get through the tape, and not metal or harsh enough to scratch paint, was pretty simple.

Taking the remaining tape off the two areas however is no joke...your paint friendly mix of rubbing alcohol / paraffin helps well enough, but expect at least 30 minutes worth of battling and another 30 mins of polishing and cleaning after.

Ciao
