F30 water in rear drivers footwell

Hi Guys

I have a F30 and I have on a few occasions now found that after the rains, my rear drivers footwell area is soaked in water. I have no idea where it's entering through as it's closer to the centre of the car.

I have asked a BMW Mechanic and he said it could be that the protective layer underneath the door card isn't sealed properly.

Any ideas?

I had the same issue on my F20. Check the plastic covers just below the windscreen, make sure it's on properly.
If it's not that then it could be under the panel ontop of the accelerator and brake area.

The door has a vapour barrier. The adhesive sometimes fails. It needs to be a pretty big failure to make the floor wet though (it would fill up the door before it got through in that large of a quantity.

If it is wet towards the centre and not from the roof, check that maybe one of the seals hasn't come off under the car. I don't know what the F30 is like, but with the F10 and all the panels underneath I doubt it would be this.

If all of the above fail...

I'm not sure if the vehicle has a sunroof and where the drains run compared to where water is collecting but if a drain is blocked you will have water getting in.
