F30 M Sport ECU Mapping or Piggyback

Hi Guys
I am finally getting my F30 tomorrow and I have heard that you can get close to the 328i's performance via tweaks. Is there a piggyback system available for the 320 or is it just remapping of the software? Will said mapping impact on the mp or will a removable system be better?

brand new car + chipping = no MP ...from what I hear they can pick up if the cars had any chipping, piggyback on it..but I'm sure others on the forum will be able to shed more light..

The major question you want to ask yourself would be if you are willing to sacrifice the MP for the gains. I am of the opinion that you can get 125i performance from the 320i (160kw/320nm) as these are the figures I have read about on other forums.

It depends which dealer you go to, but if they want to find out they will, the systems log almost everything.. I am in the same boat with my F30 320d..

I know what I can push from it with a remap, decat and new intercooler, but I will wait for it to be out of plan or by then I might just have bought something else.. Things have gone wrong on my F30 (nothing major but parts had to be ordered from Germany - so if your plan is shot...) enough said

something to think about as well is the F30 is new..there will still be niggles across the model range they may find once some of them start doing heavy mileage and ageing..I don't think taking a risk on MP is a good idea on the F30..

I wouldn't risk it on a new model that's in it's first year of production :nonono:

MP has nothing to do with the issue for me.
If you bought a F30 320 and want to gain 328 power, you can certainly gain that with software or a piggyback tune. Piggyback is easier to install and remove. You can contact Rennzport with regards the piggyback option.

The real question for me is this. Unlike the previous generation 320, the latest one is very lively and has lots of grunt.

I would keep this car stock because unlike its NA siblings this car is not going to disappoint performance wise and it has a fantastic suspension too.

Thank you everyone for your input, will do some cosmetics and leave the motor as is for now.

@Coldfusion
What type of problems did you pick up?

If you can afford to care for the car should BMW give you the finger, than mod away

Or keep motorplan & make sure they replace every wear & tear item under plan & give them the finger that way

Our E46 in its last year of plan, we managed to get new shocks, control arms, control arm bushes, various gaskets replaced, radiator, expansion tank, oil service, brakes all round... and the car was only on 84K Km's

If you complain about a problem a few times they usually just replace..

On the cosmetic front - what are we allowed to change? Trim/wrapping/mags ?

Well as said it's nothing major but here is my list in order: 1) the rear seat just came loose 2) the left rear door's beading totally came loose and it pulled apart, rubbers loose and all 3) driver's side door control panel has 2 blown lights (front 2 window controls) and the window lock button does not work 4) there is a suspected issue with my iDrive system where it randomly resets itself when I make phonecalls or search the USB's folders for music.

My colleague at work also has a F30 320i Sport and his rear tail light (the one on the boot) just came loose - quick fix, but still..

1 & 2 have been dealt with and it's going in this Thurs for 3 & 4 and an oil swop. As said this is one of the first F30's to roll off the Production line and thus issues are expected.

Mechanically though the car flies.. what a dream to drive!!

Is there a JB option for these cars?

BMW has started to offer upgrades for the F30's costemic wise and performance wise i think as well. You should contact your dealer to find out about these options. They are MP safe but will cost you.

Okay, i did say, keep the car stock, but if you really interested in the JB tune then you can purchase it through Rennzport. Just drop me a PM for guidance.

Sorry for bringing up dust.... But is there any way we can safely say its not detectable? I know its at ur own risk and shouldnt do it if you dont want to lose motorplan, however my question stands, I asume from it not touching the ECU it should not be detectable?
