F30 330d vs 320d

So at the end of the year, the wife and I are looking at upgrading her Mini Cooper S. We (meaning I) have had a look at the options since we are looking at starting a family. We would like a 3 series, since we have experience with owning an e90 330i which we cherish.

The options are that we get a 2013/14 F30 330d (pre-lci) which I would love to get because speed :rollsmile:. But a new F30 320d would make more sense with motor plan for a longer period and because new :=):.

What differences are there with the lci vs pre-lci? Besides cosmetics.

We would like the lci but then 6 cylinders :cartel:

320.,..because "Family" - Long run it will be cheaper.

That's probably the sensible choice and I am inclined to go with the 320d because, as you've said, long term running costs. But we only live once

Had a look at both cars this weekend and I'm sold on a new 320d. There minor cosmetic changes between the pre-lci and lci, and I like the lci more.

So we'll see when we are ready to buy as to which will make sense at that time.
