The power output figures you mention are what the cars have ex factory.Run in period is set at 2000km on the ECU and the car will automatically increase the power output after that.

Let them compare your ECU/SOFTWARE with another F30 328i and see if they are different,

Hectic bud you payed for a 328i so you should drive one..

Well let's hope the power returns to normal after 2000 kms. Stealership still haven't come back to me. Feel like a "name & shame". Service really sucks.

Name this stealership :argh:
Sorry about your car hope you get sorted out man

Lyndhurst Auto. Melrose, GP
By the way I got my car back with grease finger marks on all 4 mags and the bonnet. Probably from doing the brakes. So basically, the car was returned to me "unwashed" :argh:

I'm at the car wash and had a F30 328i in front of me.I actually felt sorry for the owner, as the car looks so gorgeous but as soon as he takes off the sound from the exhaust is rather dull and uninspiring, look it may be fuel efficient and fast but I guess its model that has lost the essence of what BMW is about. It really sounded like a Tazz 130i at low revs. I'd think the 335i is a better buy, as I doubt something that sounds like that is making 180kw.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but was this sorted after the 2000 km run in period?
Did BMW get back to you, if so what did they have to say?

So BMW are de-tuning their cars these days...I am losing respect for BMW more and more each day, sounds like the F30 is just another E90 but I wasn't expecting anything less from the downward spiraling auto manufacturer....BMW can't build reliable cars any more.:thumbdo:

EDUCATE yourself before calling E90s and F30s a downgrade so to say.

Please remove that narrow thinking of nothing is better than E46

my two cents worth

There is no such thing as a run in period of 2000kms. All brand new cars have the full potential right from the start.

///M cars need to wait 2000kms to activate features like launch control etc.

Sorry to say it, but I think the E46/E39 do infact have a better build quality. Yeah so they don't have the latest toys, but does one REALLY need them? I have a garmin/smartphone for nav and a 6 CD Shuttle. I have cruise control. I don't need more.

You see so many E39's/E46's and earlier hitting HUGE mileage and they still look and run fantastic... Would like to see an F30 do the same.

Nevertheless I do hope the OP did get sorted out

I have two E90's and never owned an E46.

I can however say that the E46 is a better build quality car as my personal opinon

I love my E90's (323 and 335) they are the first BMW's i have purchased.

However the e90's have had weak diff issues, injector recalls, turbos recalls, battery cable recalls, HPFP recalls, weak rims that buckle and crack, blue thooth units that dont last, LCD radio screens that fade and peeling plastics.

Thats what i can think off the top of my head, that i have seen on the forum and went through myself.

I dont know how many recalls the e46 went through, but it cant be as much.

Gents built quality will differ between older and newer models because the manufacturers are trying to make the cars lighter and still achieve better power and consumptions.

You must admit though its also about cutting costs.

How many recalls do you hear of on the 7 and 5 series models
