Hi guys, thanks for the responses.
Reason I'm opting for the lease above owning is because I do a lot of mileage. I should hit 90000kms after 3 years, so the 3 year, 90000km limit suits me well.
Financing to own is not the route I want to go because of the excessive maintenance after the 100 000km plan expires. This should happen in 3.5years for me.
Leasing seems to be the best option because after the 36months, I will owe nothing on the car as compared to a normal installment sale, most of the 3 year payments will be going towards interest. So I will be stuck in an "upside-down" situation where I will be owing much more on the car than the book value. So my next trade-in will have a trade-in shortfall and this will just snowball onto the next and the next...
Hope I'm making sense...
Also just test drove the F30 320i..Must say, quite an impressive drive compared to the E90.
Hey RyanC. Yes indeed, the F30 is awesome, but just dont let the petrol attendent clean your windscreen cause you will end up with a scratched bonnet. When you lift the drivers side wiper while in the down position it scratches the bonnet on the F30. Design oversight or planned madness?? But being a former S3 owner you would be used to this as I think the Audi suffered the same issue?
Hi Rambam,
Thanks for the advice. Will check that out when I get home today.
On the S3 you would flick the windscreen wiper trigger when the car is switched off. This would bring the wipers up to the centre and keep it there so that you could pull it away without scratching the bonnet.
Hmm, wonder if BMW has thought of this.

just a consideration...
how does BMW treat accidents that occur on a leased vehicle?
surely they would knock you on that claiming the vehicle has depreciated faster as a result and pass that onto you at the end?
Hi Enigma,
I've read the buy-back agreement and all it says is that any repair work must be done at an approved BMW Auto Repair centre, which is fine.
No mention of a reduced GFV after an accident.
I'm not sure regarding the depreciation after an accident.

I think BMW would limit you to 20 000km a year, which falls in line with the 5yr or 100 000km motorplan. I could be wrong, but please check up on your particular deal, and inform us as well
Hi 444YYY,
BMW does their lease deals a bit differently from others.
You signup for a km limit and there's no restriction on the mileage you do per year. You are safe as long as you are within the mileage limit at the end of the contract, otherwise you get charged a ridiculous amount per km you are over.
I got told different values per km from different dealerships. The average is R5.00/km.
