Just done a deal. Trading my thrifty F30 320d in on a new F10 528i.
Whats the consensus. The difference in fuel economy not a problem.

Nice car,

What options did you take out of interest.

There were only two vehicles left at factory. I have chosen the silver with black interior. Has quite a lot of standard features but i have gone for the 18" tyres because the roads i use are quite crappy. We are often 5 in the car and thats why i have gone from F30 to the F10.
I also picked the 528i because i think the cars are a bit large for 520I and 520D.
Will be getting car on Monday and will post pictures. Datalogg will also follow.

5 series facelift is out before year end, spending that much you may want to wait for the lci...

Nice I6 power last of a dying breed!

The grunt on these cars are absolutely amazing, I must also add that the 523 does a good job with better fuel economy.

If im not mistaken, the 528i should be the 2 litre turbo now.

Earlier F10 models came with the I6, newer models IIRC from 2011+ have the N20B20 engine

Absolutely right. I have the I6 528i of 2010. All models after this are the 4 port 2Litre Turbo.
Congratulations on the buy. You are guaranteed a lot of smiles from now on.

Went for a drive in the car and decided not to advance with the purchase. Maybe i'm used to my f30 330d but these were my impressions.
FOR
1) car is very solid
2) depends on taste but i think a better looking car than the F30
3) no wind noise and much quiter than F30
4) more standard options than F30 even in this exclusive model.
5) 2litre 180kw motor much quieter than expected and adequate.
6) I cruised at 100 and OBC was showing 4,9L/100. Phenomenal.
7) in a straight line on smooth surfaces very comfortable.

AGAINST :thumbdo:
1) Steering very vague.Ratio is all wrong it takes a lot of turn on the steering wheel to go in the direction you want to.
2) Changing lanes takes far too much effort.
3) Car has far too much body roll.

The whole point of wanting this car was to soak up the bad road surfaces but i"m afraid this one fails the test.Maybe on the autobahns but not for me on our bad roads.
The dealer offered an incredible deal monetary wise but buying a bargain is not always the best solution.

You'd probably want to delve into the options list of adaptive suspension and steering to get the handling you want but for that you'd have to order your model from the factory, I doubt you'd find a 528i with them fitted. Or an M-sport model, but that defeats the point of a cruiser a bit while the others will make the car better all round. But taking into account the cost of the facelift, and the massive cost of those options, it's at a whole different price level. The facelift also really offers no real improvement on the car so it can't really be justified.

It rides about the same on the standard 18" wheels as the E60 530i did on it's 17" wheels. But yes the bodyroll and vague steering is there. Love to cruise in my moms, but isn't half the car to drive hard as the F20 125i M sport is.

3 series is somewhere in the middle. But all round the F10 is a massive step up in luxury, although usable space is disappointing given the size and lack of spare wheel.

That 2.0T engine is great though, although the smoothness of the 3.0l 6 is missed. But the car is a lot faster than the E60 530i. In fact it's very closely matched to the F20 125i... which should have been a 128i given its the same engine but was just detuned for marketing:argh:

friend of mine has the 528i,amazing car it is.Few drives i've been in it,find it difficult to find any faults.Fuel economy is high but since that is no problem for you then go for it,the motor sounds absolutely beautiful.
