There's also something I saw at the car wash once, they use it to get odours out then air on system.

Congrats, car looks to be in good shape!
In terms of the odour.. That smell is in the carpets of the car and likely in the aircon microfilter. I have tried before using numerous expensive brand products to remove odours from one of my previous BMWs.. None worked they all just mask it.
So go buy a new aircon microfilter, it is a 10min job to do. Then you need something to deep clean the carpets in the car - watch some videos on how to do that. Then leave something in the car that is good at drawing moisture from the cleaned carpets. That it what works ultimately.
As said all the fancy products never worked for me, deep cleaning the carpets solved it for me. Smoke is horrible that gets everywhere, likely in the headlining too, all the best hope you get it sorted for the SO!

I will go the microfilter route then and DIY the rest.
I suppose it’s better than paying big bucks for an interior valet which doesn’t guarantee to remove the smoke odour.

To answer the retrofit questions
Cruise Control - you need to get the buttons on the left from a breaker or the dealer. Once fitted, this can be activated via coding
Bluetooth - as far as I am aware, all F20’s with iDrive have basic Bluetooth built in. This will allow you to connect you phone for calls but not music streaming. To stream music you need a combox in the boot... if you lift the mat, this is a box which would be positioned flat in the indentations above the batter on the left. If you have this, then it simply needs to be enabled via coding. If not, don’t bother as you will need to install the combox and a fiber optic network to the head unit. You can look at Bluetooth adapters that plug into the aux and usb under the armrest like the BMW Y cable.
Have a look at babybmw forum... there is a lot of helpful guides on this and a guy called Wibbles who can even do the coding remotely if you get a cable and laptop

I've driven a couple of recent Suzuki's, including the swift, and they are not bad cars by any means. Great bang for the buck.
Ive also driven a 120d and in my opinion it's a no brainer.
