Ethanol on a stock 135i?

Howzit guys!

I tried searching for this topic but it returned a plethora of complex answers on the forum.

Think of me as that guy who will ALWAYS call "the guy" for anything (mixture of laziness and simply just not being clued up on these things)

Anyway, as the topic says. Can I use Ethanol in my stock 135i as an octane booster? (If that's its purpose?) Will I feel any difference? My petrol flap says e10 10% max.

Thanks.

PS, keep it short and sweet, any technical answers will be lost on me

im sure you can man. just do not mix it too strong.

you will most probably need upgraded fuel rail/injectors/fuel pump etc. etc. if you want to run it stronger. Ethanol friendly (talking under correction here)

But im sure the guys will push you in the right direction.

here is a good video:

if it says e10 on the flap then mix in 10%... If you had JB4 you could mix in even more

more than 10% on stock ecu I would run logs to make sure the fueling is adjusting correctly

Because overseas the fuel has got 10% ethanol already mixed in. So yes...it should be fine!

i run 20% ethanol in my jb4 335i no issues so far
the car loves it

Would not recommend going more than 20 %.
Also note depending on your setup, at some point you will start to loose power with increasing ethanol concentration especially if you not setup for it.... energy content of ethanol is lower however it is more resistant to knocking.

7 to go....

You don't need flex fuel to run 20 percent eth. In the states we were running 40 percent e85 and there were guys running 50 percent e85 no flex fuel.

Start with this mix:
25 Liters pump
7 Liters 95/e5 ethanol

Your car will pull stronger. Then up it to 10Liters ethanol on your next mix. That would be as much as the car can usefully convert without a BMS flex ecu.

Thanks Twinz! This is the type of advice I was looking for.:praise:

Agreeing with Twin

I really disagree with both you and Twinz.
Drama's car is stock.
I can't see it requiring so much (28-29 %) ethanol.

But real world experience does count...
Even so, allow me to seek clarification:
Twinz is that really your recommendation for a stock car?

I'm assuming he read the topic which was stock?

 I'll wait for confirmed advice before attempting anything.
