help needed for my car:
1995 E36 316i dolphin shape
361 000km
here's the story:
parked my perfectly working car that I use everyday to work & back in the garage as usual on the Friday night.
flew to PTA on sunday.
returned the next friday
started the car saturday morning
dead
no starter action
lights / radio all work
check all fuses - all good
jump started it with spare battery - nothing
phoned friend for a tow
tried tow starting - nothing
his motor mech checked and found the engine management module was dead?
why / how - no one knows - it just died
they organised a 2nd hand module (same type / car) and got the car running
but now it's needs tuning. they don't have the equipment
current car issues:
won't idle from cold start
nearly chokes off when I press accelerator when cold
to get any power out of it I have to press accelerator flat - then when it gets above 4000 - 4500rpm - it takes off like a rocket
only when warmed up does it becomes more manageable
2 things:
can I get the broken module repaired?
is there a way to "tune" the air mixture?
or is there a problem with the 2nd hand module?
