Engine cutting out

Hi guys

Sorry for the long read, otherwise skip to the end for cliff notes.

My car has recently developed this problem, while slowing down for a stop street i put my clutch in and the car cut out, weird, restarted and it was fine, short distance later same thing happened at a robot.

Got home and car made a weird noise like a vacuum cleaner sucking sound and the idle was rough, opened the bonnet and noticed some light smoke from the bottom left.

Next day on the way to work the car became sluggish, felt as if some one had pulled the handbrake while i was driving, so it felt like i was driving against huge resistance, pressed the clutch to change gears and wham surprise the car dies again, several times.
Pulled over and thick white smoke came piling out the bonnet, switched off car and opened bonnet, the smoke was coming from the bottom left pulley :argh:

Also note my aircon was on all the time.

Towed the car home for safety sake, took a look around and noticed on the bottom left pulley (a/c compressor i believe) the ground wire is broken and i found this weird piece as well as this rubber around the A/C compressor clutch

Cliff notes:
Car feels sluggish, car dies when clutch depressed, white smoke from a/c compressor, Broken ground wire on a/c compressor, Weird piece on ground wire is broken.

Whats going on with my car and what is the broken weird piece ?

Well some things to look at would be possible vacuum leak or fault cam/crank position sensor for the cutting out and sluggishness.
Can't really comment about the other stuff.

think your air con pump might have seized.. smoking belt, stalling the engine when you engage clutch..

Hey guys, Thanks for the replies

Today i disconnected my aircon pump belt and took the car out and no smoking, no stalling nor sluggishness.

So does that mean my pump is gone or is it just the clutch ?
