Golf one is easier to steal than a e36,
But all the evo 1 e36 (1992 - mid 1995) where very easy to steal, because u lock the car using your key, to inable the alarm via the keylock. The thief just comes and breaks the keylock & disables the alarm system. break the steering lock and bye bye. (It happend to my parents - My mom had a 1995 m3, that was stolen 1st of December 2009 @ a petrol garage in Rustenburg, when she just ran inside the shop to buy milk, 5min later the car was gone.) till this day we have not heard or seen it again.)
I bought them another e36 - 325I (Modified the alarm system big time... :argh: the thiefs....)
evo 2 e36 (1995 - 1998) where fitted with EWSII emobolisers making it a bit more trick.
I must agree with Rick540, The best alarm system in the world is the one only u know about, I disables my car's door keylocks & modified my OBC code emobliser. (They have not tried to steal my car yet, touch wood...)
