I was really keen on grabbing a E92 M3 next year, no way I am going that route now, it's actually sad to see so many of these lovely cars having problems.

Good luck to you guys with the bonnets open, keep us updated wrt the rebuild process.

I was seriously looking at a E92 M3 a few months ago as I was going to go back to BMW but after much research and coming across all these updates I sadly went another route and bought something else. Was a great shame as I really wanted to own another ///M after owning a few others in the past.

I had a few cars I looked at a few cars I.e. BMW 235, Golf 7 R , BMW 135 , E92 M3 and then I came across a very highly specked A45 which just ticked all the boxes so I bought my first Merc.

I have a Z4M 2007 , and I had the bearings and oil pump plus all V belts done at SMG century city......great service, couldn't risk it, went the preventative route

What did they charge you if I may ask? Would love to have an idea of dealer pricing.

I had a major service done with that work as well, all in, cost around R 36k

i made the decision not to buy 1 because of bearings & actuators but when i see it i still get emotional. C63 is nice but its not the same..anyways

Hi

Had my bearings done in February 2016 at 91900km on the S85. Full service history etc had the books everything. I did the bearings because I wanted to create a base for the car from my ownership forward. Went to Tunetech to have them done.

The image below shows what was found and they all look like that, all down to the copper. I now sleep a bit easier.

Hi
How much did it cost? I'm also thinking of doing the same as a preventative measure.

Ya hey a rebuild on the V10 starts at R160k+ so that R27k was well worth it. It's because of forums such as this and abroad that I identified that this was a potential issue and went ahead and had them done.

I do think there is a issue and glad have peace of mind now. Tunetech also gives a 12month unlimited Km warranty after the job.

Nope I haven't. I'm doing the oil service, due this month.

Did you do it on yours? What were the results if so?

Had a guy on the forum last year whose S65 blew up... Spent about R150k for the rebuild. Thats scary money.

ja BMW should def do a goodwill fix with these...worst part for non m owners is its not effecting the price on these cars. i tried checking for vehicles that had bearings done under motor plan so i wouldnt have to do it after purchasing but had no luck. his analysis would of def showed high copper %

I did not do an oil analysis, just bit the bullet because i knew I was going to have to do it sooner or later.

An oil analysis will help if the car has a history of having had the oil analysed.

One then has the data to monitor metal degradation.
