Hi Everyone

My Window Washer Fluid warning light has come on.
I was wondering whether I can just top this up with normal water or if there is a special fluid that I need to top it up with?

It depends all on you, water is fine, however, it isn`t going to clean bugs and dirt off the windscreen.

Go to midas and buy a bottle of window washer fluid, won't be expensive.
Follow directions on the back though, some require you to mix the fluid and water before hand and other fluid can simply be poured directly in the car.

Hope this helps :chef:

It's usually a 1 to 7 ratio of washer fluid to water.

As mentioned, water works fine but washer fluid gets bugs and other tough dirt off.

The fluid is just water and windscreen cleaner so it's safe to top up with water. I would recommend using filtered water.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure that there are some additives in there at the moment.
Fluid is slightly soapy and it does clean the windows very well.

I'll definitely make a turn at midas to enquire about the window washer fluid.

Lots of places have a tablet the size of a very fat panado, that you just drop into the washer fluid bottle and top up with water, the heat from the engine bay and movement do the rest.

Just a word of caution as well, some window washer fluids should not get onto the car's paint undiluted.

Yep, tap water will be fine, but some additive cleans bug-splats better. Just don't use Sunlight.

Why?

Just asking cos I have always used a few drops of sunlight every once in a while (like year or 2) and then just top up with water whenever it goes down..... Been doing it for years on all my cars owned-and haven't notice any problems

Not necessarily Sunlight, but citrus based, acidic stuff tends to eat rubber over time. Like nozzle tubes, pump gaskets, wipers...etc.
