e90 Issues

So i took the bmw on a weekend trip.
Three things that i picked up that is really unexpected.
1. My brakes squeals like a stuck pig. Very embarrassing for a high end BMW.
2. Annoying vibration at cruising speed, which gets worse the faster i go.
3. The biggest issue: Road holding, it feels like the BMW is floating. Whenever i go over a little bump on the road she feels very light on her feet and make a very unsettling shake.

No 1 and 2 could possibly be sorted out with very little effort 2 being wheel balancing, however i got the car about two weeks ago and when i test drove the car i mentioned this to the sales person and he said they go through everything before delivery and everything wrong will be sorted. obviously not.

NO 3 is what's got me worried, what could this be?
Worn shocks, bent chassis, ....?

Please, before i rip the sales person a new one, i need some pointers!!!

Well seems as if suspension is at the root. Check Balancing and Alignment, first to find out if you have a bend wheel or not, often the case of vibration + Flat spots on tires that will make the vibration worse or another cause.

Then check the Shocks and Stabilizers.

The Brakes can be sorted out with Copper Slip after cleaning just add it to the Disk and that would be sorted.

Thanx dippies.
How do check the shocks and stabilizer?
Do i go to a fitments centre or do i get BMW to check that for me?

The car has less than 30k km on, how is this possible?

Well i would suggest if your car is under motor plan to let BMW take a look, also the Wheel alignment on your BMW is Weighted so i am not sure if a normal Fitment center will be able to assist in that regard

But first Check if the problem is not on the Tires Flat Spots can cause the Vibration like you explained and if you increase speed and it gets worse i get he feeling it is wheel or Tyre related. If the Tires and wheels is the problem also check the Wheel bearing cause it often damages during the increased strain. Not all the time but some of the time.

I mite be wrong but that is where i will start looking

Good thing is that you still have alot of motorplan left. The car would have gone through a BMW check before the motorplan was transfered onto your name.

So any issue suspension related should have been picked up. Also if you did mention these issues to the sales person there must be record of what was done to resolve the issue.

Had the same floating issue with 2010 e90 320d, BMW ended up replacing nearly all components in front suspension. Also check tyre pressure. More important than people realize.

What size and type of wheels/tyres does your car have?

RFT's that are not their best can do this along with alignment issues. Balancing and inspecting the tyres would be my first task, then have motorplan check/adjust your alignment.

Which E90 engine model is this? For the brakes I would also suggest that they clean the backs of the pads and callipers, then apply some copper grease and refit - they are suppose to do this but seem to be lazy at times, at least this was the case with mine.

Its a 2011 e90 330d.
When i go through little bumps uneven parts of the road the car becomes unsettled. This is maybe a better explanation.
It is defanataly not normal as i have driven the 320d, and 528i about a week before buying this one, and i did not notice this unsettling business.
My jetta was better than this:nonono:

Car is going to leo haese centurion on Thursday.

check if the rims are bent ... when I changed tires at 40k km 2 rims were seriously bent from potholes... the RFT's are hard so this can be a problem ...

as for the light feeling, check if the shocks are worn, it might be best to take it to a shocks place to put it on one of those test rigs, they will be able to tell u whats wrong instead of getting some BS story from BMW ...

So 17" or 18" wheels with RFT's - this can contribute to all of this, but not entirely to blame of course. Same size rear brakes as mine and most others suffering from brake squeal - they must just sort it out for you!

check their site for details if you need to work through them to go to these centers. But it was listed on their site. Find out from them.

I will take it to any other place except Centurion.

That is all i can help you with at this stage.

Maybe lookup a place called alignment centre in city deep. I heard that their checks are thorough and 300.00 for a complete diagnosis doesn't sound too bad either.

Take it to Zambezi auto, I had 8 BMW's have 2x E90's at the moment, (think that qualifies me to comment on service) they sorted my problem which is exactly what you are describing, tell Pieter to check on my wife's E90 reg (will PM), which had the same problem. The remedy obviously should also be the same, took more than one visit though. Didn't have the references that my similar issue would provide you now.

:argh: my 320d e90 has a noise that comes from the front suspension on uneven roads like broom broom sound or like an over pumped up tire, I changed both front sock absorbers, both tires {normal soft tires} rubber stabiliser, 2 end rods stabiliser {the upright ones about 1 foot size}

Any idea what this sound might be coming from? Another 320d same 2006 year of manufacture has the same sound. This is making me go crazy!!! any ideas will be very helpful
