E90 engine types

Hi,

I am totally confused with all the engine configurations on the E90s. For example, the first 325's (2006-2007) came out with the N52B25 engine which is a 2.5litre 160kw motor.

Then there is the 2007 onwards 325 which has the N52B30. This is a 190kw 3litre motor.

In the tech specs for the E90 325 on bmw's site they say it has the 3 litre engine, however wikipedia says it could be 2.5 or 3 depending on the model year???

Thanks.

I think in 2007 they revised the engine line-up as 2005 - 2006 320i pushed out 110kw & 2007 - cuurent push 115kw.

I really wonder want changes were made to the 2007 - current models.

When you look at the current specs in ZA(CAR mag), it appears there is two 320i engines, both 4 cylinder and same torque but the other is a 125kw.

But the BMW website in ZA only shows one engine with the specs below:
320i R 315 500 115/6400 200/3600 9.0 [9.8] 220 [218] 7.9 [8.0]

This means we currently have 1 320i engine with 115kw according to BMW SA.

This is really confusing and i just wish the 320i was left as a striaght six as the 4 cylinder sounds awful!

You are right...but the website is outdated :) Pay a visit to a dealer with the updated models.

645Nm, are you not thinking of the 320d?

That makes sense as the current 320d specs are below:

» 320d R 355 500 130/4000 350/1750-3000 7.9 [8.0] 230 [228] 5.5 [6.0]

So no one knows? Is there at least a way to see which one of the two it is, 2.5 or 3 litre? Does it say on the engine block somewhere?

@ri's 120i is the 125kw version, and for a 4 pot it sounds amazing! Got a deep growl.. very throaty!

You should be able to tell by the VIN number of the vehicle.

Go to realoem.com and type in the VIN, it will tell you what engine derivative you have etc.
