So no real upgrades have been made on my car, but I feel the thread needs an update..

This past weekend I attended the BMWFanatics Race Day. What an awesome day this turned out to be.

With my car’s preparation for Race Day I decided to participate in the drag event with the car in full street trim (granted I do have Yokohama AD08 tyres on permanently).

This meant the car had the same map, nearly full tank fuel and no weight saving was done. The map on the car also has not changed since day 1.

I ended up running a 13.4s 1/4mile at 169.8km/h which I am content with.

Some pics of the event:

Saturday was truly a testament to the Jekyll and Hyde personality of this car. It performed very well (although there were much faster cars on the day) and is still such a pleasure to drive.

In April I did a 3000km round trip and the overall consumption was around 16.5km/l. That alone proved to me that this will be one very difficult car to replace - specifically from a price/performance/fuel economy point of view.

Mileage is sitting around 90 xxxkm, so there’s a lot more life left in this one.

Thanks for reading:thumbs:

This car is a sleeper of note, except for those rear tyres that can spark some interest but not like it can be viewed for too long!

Great times bud, was a pleasure watching it go down the track and rake up those great exit speeds :praise:

Great stuff Ferdi. Saw your car in person and its in mint condition. I like to see what a car can do in street trim as it is, no fancy modifications. Your times are fantastic. Take your car to ODI raceway to see what it does on a 1km. Its nice as you can get up to some good speeds. The QM is largely dependent on traction and powerful rear wheel drive cars struggle. PS, they having an event this weekend Sunday and Im looking at going.

Thanks Yush.

It was good to meet you on Saturday.

I would like to take it to and event at ODI sometime. I won’t go this weekend though.

Great stuff man :praise: Diesel FTW :cartel:

What's it like driving with the AD08's daily at the back? Was looking at doing this myself but unsure...

Thanks!

I don’t drive the car daily, but I do drive it often enough to know how the tyres would be on a daily.

They’re a lot grippier than the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT’s that I had on. They also don’t roll much in corners, which is always a good thing.

I can’t comment on the stiff sidewall as I am used to RFT tyres anyway. The road noise on these tyres are supposedly more than normal tyres, but there really is no difference between these and the Birdgestones.

I’m sure they will wear quicker than normal tyres, but that is to be expected.

Sounds like Yokohama SA will not be keeping stock on hand anymore due to low demand, so they will special order in future. This will obviously mean it will be more expensive.

The rear set I sold last week was 2 of 9 tyres in that size that they had left in the country. They didn’t have any 255/35/18 in stock.

Maybe phone YSA and check for availability and then phone your local tyre dealer for pricing etc. That’s what I did.

Thanks for the heads up! I will definitely do that

Great stuff Ferdi, @schalk320d was not rocking the car enough to warm up both tyres.....

:smilebounce::smilebounce::smilebounce:

I was at a bit of a weight disadvantage against the 1550kg car:roflol: Many failed rocking attempts later, the car actually ran better without too much of a burnout :hammerhead:

Thanks man.

The mileage is kept low due to me not driving it everyday.
