Just a follow-up post - it was actually the solenoid on the injector which was shorting out and thus causing the engine to shut down. That's why it was an electrical and a mechanical issue to some extent, and the reason it was so hard to diagnose.
I have a problem with my e90 LCI the other day i tried starting it and it refused to start. It swings but nothing happened. Had the fuel pump replaced it then started up, now once it started up the rev counts were too high and it cut off, so i replaced the fuel float on the opposite side. When the car starts up and you press the accelerator it cuts out. Had the new fuel pump tested and the pump is fine. Please can anyone help me!
