If you have the plastic tappet cover most will advise you to replace the entire cover, usually to the song of a few grand, as it is an integrated part. However, you can find individuals selling the N55 PCV valve independently, and you can cut/break out the old one and replace. I've see them for sale between the high hundreds and low R1000 mark, YMMV.
I would start by first testing to make sure that it is the PCV. Does the high pitch noise go away when you open the oil filler cap? does it fluctuate with rpm?
There is a small test port on the PCV itself, you can google/youtube how to test, I can't recall at the moment, but I think that it shouldn't allow air to flow freely or the diaphragm is shot. Again, double check on this, might be wrong.
