E90 325/330i

I can definitely say the E9x sport pack's ride is much harder due to the RFT tyres and not so much a firmer suspension setup. The replacement of the tyres definitely will make the ride better than an exclusive pack with RFTs.
I have non-rfts (18"s) on my car, and the car rides much better than my previous E90 sport pack with smaller rims (17"s) and RFT tyres. Any change in road level used to jolt the E90 with RFTs badly with a solid thud felt in the cabin, and could probably spill drinks etc.

Also the handling is very different between S.Pack vs Excl, as the feeling with the S.Pack is much more planted feeling in the corners and on a straight road the bouncing effect is non-existant, cars which have soft suspension then to have that spongey feeling when cruising along on the freeway, if you are acustomed to the sport pack suspension you may find exclusive too soft. Recently drove a E90 exclusive, and felt it to soft, as you get that motion sickness feeling in your stomach, as the car accelarates hard it lifts up in the front and the nose dips under braking. Its not bad but some of the differences I noticed when the two are compared, as the sport pack has better stability for the driver who drives with a heavy foot.

Also invest in a spare tyre kit if buying, it is a must.

WRT to comments on MP, bear in mine dealer retail pricing for repairs as comments such a a bumper replacement for a bumper bashing can be easily R20K or more.

I would recommend a sport pack with non-rfts anyday, and especially if you going the 6cyclinder route, the sport pack, does compliment the character of the car well.

Thanks Ray, I will give it a shot. The last time I spoke to them they said they don't sell pre-owned cars older than 1 year.

i have an E90 Sportspack, was the worst back breaking ride ever, until i chucked the RFT's for standard tyres. riding on 18" wheels its rather decent now, but nothing compared to what an E46 sports pack was.

I dont mind a comment unless it was a front smash...Then i stay away....

True, but bmw did not specify what those comments were for and I find that sellers have a tendency to understate the damages in order to make a sale. I'd rather buy from a seller who's honest about the history of the car.

Hey guys. I just came across a 2007 325i with sportspack, sunroof, sat nav, xenons etc... With 73k on the clock and motorplan till 06/2013. No comments. What's a reasonable price to pay for one of these? The asking price is a bit out of my price range at R200k, but I still want to have a look at it and maybe try to negotiate with the seller. Just want to get an idea of book and retail values.

Hey guys

So I'm shopping around for a new car. I'm looking at a 2006/07 325/330i with around 100k on the clock. It must have a sportpack, sunroof, and preferably the 18' m sport rim and preferably manual. Any other extras would be advantageous. My budget is around R150-160k max. My question is, am I being a bit too optimistic expecting to find one with those specs within my budget? What are the book and retail values on these? I've been searching through autotrader and gumtree for the past 2 weeks and can't seem to find any that catches my eye. I have responded to a few ads and still awaiting responses. As per my 1st thread on the E46 330i which I backed out on, this will be my 1st car purchase.

What should I be expecting in terms of maintenance on these cars out of motorplan?

Inspect Cars in Randburg on Malibongwe Drive have a super clean E90 325i Auto , Mpsort with Motorplan , sunroof going for 190k , if i was you go have a look at it before it gets sold , car is in immaculate condition

Alternatively call BI- RITE MOTORS in Randburg , speak to Archie or Marius 011 7928743 , tell them you got their number from me and you are a good friend etc. They will get you a MSport as they deal with trade ins from BMW directly

If there are comments on the MP, then the car was repaired at an authorised BMW repair centre.

They are very strict with the inspections. The moment repair parts are ordered on the VIN, the MP is suspended. It is only re-instated once inspection is passed.

I just recently had a repair done to my 2011 320d, parts replaced were Front Bumper, Right Front Light and Bonnet. repair cost was R48k. car was drivable after accident. MP was suspended and re-instated after inspection. In fact it did not pass 1st inpection because there was a little overspray, had to be fixed and sent for inspection again to re-instate the plan.

Its the damage that was repaired that dont appear as comments that you should really worry about. Those would be repairs carried out by non-approved centers and parts purchased not using the VIN.

Thanks Shaun. Could you perhaps PM me a link to that car? I'm not from Jhb so unable to check it out:nonono:

I went to check out that 325i yesterday. The car is super clean and it's a manual, but at 195k it seems a bit pricey for a 2007 model and I don't think the seller is willing to drop the price any further:cry:
What is the trade and retail on it?

I managed to get trade and retail values from a dealer. For an '07 model trade is 160k and retail is around 180k. I think around 170 would be more reasonable for a 325i...

I know that the sportspacks are awesome but ive found that the exclusives are usually better priced and better equipped.

The exclusives, though not as awesome looking as the sportpacks are still quite decent looking. with a good set of rims, they can be made to look uber cool.

take it..... dont take it.... just adding comments to help.
