E90 323 Smoke Headache??

Good day everyone.

I drive a 2006 E90 323 sport and it has 210 000 km on the clock.

There's a couple of things i need some thoughts on, hopefully someone
can help me or shed some light on it.

Every once in a while it puffs out a big cloud of smoke when i start
it, grey-white, doesn't matter how i drive it or anything. It happens
today and out of the blue 2 days or 2 weeks later, doesn't matter if
i red-lined it or whether it was just idling, when i start it, PUFF,
there it is, the car is also sluggish and heavy on petrol, had it at bmw and had a service done not too long ago but its the same.

I think it is valve stamp seals, but because its not smoking with every start up i don't know.

Next is the rpm meter "fishing" not by a lot but you can see it going up and down a bit and it also mis-fires at low rpm, must keep the engine above 1000 rpm to keep it smooth.

I have replaced the number 2 cylinder coil 3 times so far, first two times was at bmw, the last time was a parts dealer, first one went on about 120 000 km,previous to that i dont know, so far i cant tell why its doing that either, i have heard the coils do die, but 3 on the same cylinder? I live in Wonderboom pta, if there is someone that will not ask me a second bond on my house to do a good look over of the car and check it with a OBD reader i would also be very thankful.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated in this regard..
Thank you

It was a full service at BMW, sparkplugs, filters, everything was replaced, even the front break disks.

You could have a look at the oil separator and all connecting hoses that go with it. They tend to go bad with time and as a result lets oil into the intake.
I drive a '06 325i, same motor as yours. I read that these motors give issues with rings also, as opposed to the 3 liter motors which use better rings and don't have the ring problems.

ok so... i had my sisters car with me and experienced a similar problem

her car is a 2007 e90 323... problem is the car does not do more that 70km/h possibly throughout the year... i did the oil change and then took it on the freeway... clouds of smoke later, it seems to disappear and the car seems less lethargic,

on the other note... the milage on the car just touched 100k, and during that time there was not even an indent on the sump plug from all the "services" it went to bmw for... taking into regard there is no dipstick tube to pull oil from...

when i did the first oil change, the oil that came out from the car was beyond horrific , and the difference even the oil change made was substantial

don't keep your hopes up on plug changes by the dealer... rather create a baseline and change the plugs out yourself
