E90 320i valvetronic

Hi Guys
can someone please advise

EML came on last night on my 2007 320i, a friend of mine used his diagnostic machine and the error code was 2A61-Valvetronic Adaption.
Researching this on the internet seems to point to a Valvetronic gear failure.

Does this seem right to u guys?
What would something like this cost to repair?

I had mine replaced for R 7000-00

The vvt motor is around R3500. And after its installed bmw must do some settings on it.
