if a normal cold turbo spin up sound means your turbo is on its way out ill be very surprised.
Maybe 320d turbo is silent and 330d turbo is just noisy. I can hear my car dumping very loudly in my 330d when I take my foot off the throttle if im at 2200rpm. so loud that it turns heads! and the whining sound in the mornings when the car is cold is also just like yours.

My 320d is also a E90 facelift 2012 model
18 700km on the clock.
I never used the car for about 3 weeks and when i started it i also had a simlar noise.
Booked in this morning and Bmw just called me to say that they had to replace the Vbelt / power steering belt and 1 pulley.
They said 75% of the 320d the belts they used was shredding and thefore the noise and they have to change them.
The car will not give any warnings but i suggest you book it in ASAP.
Mine is at Auto Alpina and according to them all is well now.

Bought the car at Randburg , sent them a mail with the sound and now just waiting for them to give me a date and conformation on a courtesy car :joy:
