Howzit guys
So I have a e90 320d with the non folding seat and the metal backing… I wanted to put in subwoofers but I’m not sure if the sound will be dampened by the metal backing as I have a exhaust system but I hardly hear it from inside the vehicle
Any thoughts?

Hey bud,

The sealed boot does dampen the bass significantly. You will need to either cut the ski pass or port the back board.

Your post mentioned subwoofers...more than 1 should sound decent, but you can expect alot of rattles with that setup.

I'd consider upgrading the underseat woofers, if cutting the ski pass isnt a road you want to go down.

You will definitely need to cut out a the board from the boot following the outline of the back seat arm rest. And drive the rear arm rest down for maximum results. A good installer will seal it in a way that you cant see into the boot and there will be no material flapping around with the air pressure. It should basically be a stealth install and mod.

Thanks bud
I was thinking of going with 2 x 12” powerbass subs and doing some sound deadening sheets for the rattling
But I will try the ski pass and consider the underseat woofers aswell

Thanks for tips bud

Many moons ago when i gave 2 shits about hearing damage, what i used to do was remove the rear parcel shelf speakers, ream out a 110mm hole in the metal and port the box through there. It works awesome.

Mind sending me pics of the work he had done on your car? Just wanna get some ideas. Already know the amp Im gonna go with (Gladen RC 150c5) and for the sub Im thinking of a SQX08. Just want installation ideas now
I cant believe it, but i found a pic from deep in my archives.

I wanted quality over quantity, so i went for 10 inch Infinity sub , and Razeen made me a custom sub enclosure so i could still have most of the boot for long distance trips when the entire boot was needed.

I dont have pics of how back of the seat where you need to cut looked, but it was barely noticeable.

The amp was fitted under the floor board of the boot.
