E90 320D Steering Column Replace

Hi Everyone!
Need your help/ advice please.

My son has a the above car which has developed a bad knocking noise which is getting worse.(its a 2008 with 125k on the clock)

Took the car to the agents and they say the steering column and steering SW(whatever that is) needs to be replaced.

I basically fell off my chair when I saw the quote

Please can you recommend some one or a company that can help.

I think Ross Duncan is the guy people in jhb recommend. It's going to be expensive regardless but the dealer will rip you a new one.

Can you post the details of the quote eg. what they want to replace.

The universal joint on the steering can wear out, but this usually affects older E46 models. Not sure about E90's yet.

Knocking can be from shock/suspension or control arms too.
