I finally got take my car on a long trip to.., yes, Durban.
I normally fill up and reset the trip computer so my consumption figures include the drive from the fuel station home and driving through the suburbs etc. We were 3 adults and a little with a relatively full boot and baby stuff around the car.
At first i was using the speedo cruise at 135km/h and noticed the consumption wouldn't go below 7 on the OBC, so then i dropped the speed to 125km/h as i was in no hurry and saw it drop to about 6.7 ish. Eventually i decided to not use the speedo cruise and try to see if i could get it lower. By increasing my speed before any inclines and holding the revs at the same point throughout the incline( unless speed dropping below 105km/h), I managed to drop the consumption to 6.3 when i reached home 620km later with another 540km left on the OBC.
Unfortunately all the local running increased the consumption I have not yet put those figures into Fuelly to get the overall consumption.
The trip up was similar but managed a consumption of 6.8 L and did not use the speedo cruise much, only when i wanted to give my foot a rest...
Being an E60, theres alot of weight to lug around and i feel she is thirsty on the short runs as i dont see my consumption needle below 20L/100km till I am over 60km/h, but i am happy with the long distance consumption. I do believe she is capable of better though.
Sorry for long post....
