E60 525 M Sport

I am considering buying one of these and would appreciate feedback in terms of these cars. Reliability, fuel consumption and maintenance costs.

I would prefer a 520d or 530d but I am struggling to find a decent one. Had some bad experiences with the ones I did find, even at BMW dealers :-(.

This is what I was looking at.

The 525 isn't the fastest motor around but I wouldn't call it "slow" either. It's a good drive and the straight six is silky smooth, I would take one!

Thanks for the feedback.

@ abmi0000, most NA cars would seem under powered in jhb.

I am looking to get a decent family car, and I always liked the E60 M Sport.

If you're going N/A, I suggest the 530i as a bare minimum. With the auto box, the 525i is going to struggle to get going and your consumption will suffer. This engine just does not have enough low down torque for an autobox to perform optimally.

Thanks, I may have found a 520D M Sport has balance of motorplan which I will consider extending. Hopefully this works out.
