I'm looking at getting my hands on a used 2007 523i M-pack with 110k KM on th e clock. I also managed to source a 525i also M-pack with 132K KM. Both cars seem to be in good nick and I'm opting to get an external warranty for peace of mind. Now, besides the common faults listed on the buyers guide on the forum, are there any other faults that fellow members have experienced with these cars? What should I also look out for that may be a common ailment with these cars? Thanks

I recently got a 2010 523i MPack...apart from the issues with the auto gearbox (hard shifts, holding 3rd gear to long, the dreaded gap between putting your foot down and the car accelerating, etc) the car is a dream to drive. The gearbox is being replaced under motorplan next week so I hope those issues will go away. Fuel-wise, I average around 11.5L/100kms in daily M1 N & S traffic, which is about 1L/100km more than what I got on the 2010 320i.

523 is great I enjoyed the one I had ,now I got the F10 but I think the e60 was a smoother ride and I liked the look of the boot on the old one , great value for money

Either one will be fantastic! I had the 523i for 3yrs no niggles. I now drive the 525i for 2yrs now no troubles. Both bought at 4yrs old but very low mileage. Just remember 523 is a 2.5L and the 525i is a 3.0L
