Father and son facing each other.

This is what 145000Km looks like when cared for.

This very clean Golf belongs to the youngest son in the family who still needs to get his drivers license......the young man is responsible for all brake and suspension work on the family cars and by all accounts he is quite accomplished.

Car is on coil overs and has been massaged.

Pics of the B3 engine compartment.
These cars are maintained on the basis of trying to retain as much of the original as opposed to replacing so that it looks new.
I tend to agree with the philosophy of "sympathetic" care and maintainace as opposed to someone replacing parts purely because they want more shine and glitter.

On the above photo note the offset shock mountings which are fitted to the ALPINA car

A very quick note
I was just on the phone with the "man" who advises that the cars are not for sale and that the 1M has 12000Km and not 6000km as I previously stated.

Thank you good people for all the kind words and compliments. I have met some amazing people over the years whilst finding these cars. I endeavour to keep these cars for as long as I can and pass them on. Mileage is kept to a minimum as they only come out for annual services and the odd show. The b3 was sourced in Capetown and was owned by the previous owner for 23 years and it took along time to convince him to sell.the car is documented as being sold by Stuart bromfield and is the only one in Africa that is registered on the alpina register there are probably more however not registered.
Other than the front spoiler (cracked) and stripes (faded) nothing else has been replaced.
Once again thanks to all and special thanks to the Greek for all the kind words that keep me wanting to look after them

Hi Peter...did not know that you are a specialist when it comes to Beemers! You are indeed the chosen one to drive and witness and work on these cars. What can I say. The owner of these cars has the biggest and most well maintained collection of e30s and other collectors BMWs in Africa! Hope time allows for me to witness these gems next weekend....and hopefully will be taken for a drive in the passenger seat of course, in one or all of these cars!

Baz come to think of it I wish I had the time to build your engine when you had it done.....

On the issue of me being a specialist I do agree that I am handy with a hammer and chisel :)

Ask him to take you for a drive in the e46 m3........it is scary fast

Typical of the s50b30 and s50b32 engines they collect a lot of gunk under the vanos drive.

More later.
