Well Well Well...

I just removed the OEM CSLs and weighed them vs the CSL reps with similar M offset.

I was always under the impression that the reps are much lighter than the OEM's.

However I can now reveal that the rear wheels are nearly 2kg lighter each than the reps. I am pleasantly surprised. So much more reason to stick to the stronger lighter OEM's :)

Okay, you removed OEM CSL mags and compared them to CSL reps with similar offset? Explain the difference...trying to follow cos I've got CSL replica mags on mine:=):...so when you say OEM CSL, these comes from a CSL? Srory lol, jus a bit lost in translation. :biglol:

Ill have to google the offset of the OEM wheels but i believe the rears are like Et27 and on the reps theyre 20. Both are 9.5 j and both have toyo proxes t1 sport tyres on with similar life left. I have not checked the fronts yet.

I believe the main reason for the extra weight is due to the offset. Upon reading the information provided on bmwstylewheels.com it can be seen that the lower offset wheels have heavier weights.

I noticed this particularly as i was looking for low offset wheels for the E60 and in many cases the same rim is available on other models with higher offsets.

Style 269 is a good example

but it is also dependant on the design of the wheel, the spokes, concavity etc.

You have a set of real CSL's as well?
The real deal was BBS forged wheels and were very light and strong while the reps would be cast wheels explaining the weight difference.

I know right.... lol

I think its awesome you managed to get both from a rarity perspective. It will probably work in your case since your cars are normally in concours condition and this is fitting for a car of that condition.

And that was with half tank. So mine is nearer the 1510kg mark when empty.

With a custom backbox probably at 1500kg. The boot and seats already saved around 15kgs.
