This normally takes me a day as I work slowly and take time to clean the covers and trays individually. Prepsol and pressure washer normally does the trick.

Under the intake manifold I used a spray bottle with Prepsol and lots of cloths/rags to clean up the pipes and metal surfaces. Although the clean will never be seen again, it gives me peace of mind :)

I also lubricated the Throttle actuator shafts. It feels slightly smoother than before so I'm happy with that.

I haven't done extensive testing with this S54 yet but I'm sure it will yield similar gains in economy to the other S54's I cleaned. around 0.5L/100km improvement.

Yes pretty much. I used the Liqui moly throttle body cleaner from Moranor (AXIS)

Q20 and possibly some hose clamps for the ICV pipe if you decide to do that. The original ones are like one time use.

The clips on the intake manifold easily re useable. A nice pair of pliers does the trick. Once you have the knack for it it goes quickly.

Updating original post with more pics as I do more work on the car.

I've finally pulled it out the garage after a month hibernation. Did valve clearances over the last 3 days and ended up replacing 23 of the 24 shimms.

On the exhuast side 7 of the 12 were out of spec at .34/.35/.36

On the intake side only one was out at .25 while most were .22 one at .23 and one at .18

So I shimmed the intakes as close to .18 as possible the average being .20

Exhaust aiming to achieve .28 and overall average at .28 .29 (very happy with this result)

The CSL bootlid is installed and I just need to adjust the final fitment. The incredibly loud and disastrous back box is coming off tomorrow and I'm re fitting the stock box.

The latest stock software Gert provided is proving to be great :)

I might make a sound clip of the before and after 2mr. If I don't forget.

Using it as my Daily drive now :) Also fitted the OEM backbox with new tips. The previous tips weren't quite to my taste.

I have a clip of the "brakpan" exhaust I fitted on the car. Be afraid. be very afraid...

Driving the M to BMW tomorrow so will take a clip with the stock box raspy goodness :)

Yash I prefer these tips over the stock ones by miles. It cleans up nicer and don't look tinny and skinny. Similar in size (slightly larger OD) but I mostly like the chunky tapered innards.
