what happens when you push the DTC button?

Nothing at all, tried holding it for a couple of seconds as well but no luck.

There is however an error about can message asc.. something, but cant make heads or tails from it, so not sure what to so now

Hmm, actually haven't tried that yet :fencelook: Guess what I am doing after work? :rollsmile:

When it stops the wheel spin the dsc / asc light will light up, right?

Will test tonight, if it does come on, will that mean it's a problem with the button? and what if it does not come on?

First test, check if light illuminates when car turns on, it did.

Just took it for some fun, and the dsc does work, each time I try to spin the light blinks and car cuts power

Perhaps, not sure how I will test, both the buttons is one unit, not individual buttons, so need to replace the whole unit to find out

Check your abs module. Had the same problem on my e46 and when i changed the unit it was fine.

Its abit expensive. Got a 2nd hand on from a scrap yard for 5k

Het man, the problem was sorted, abs module didnt have right vin on, but now i am unable to turn it back of via button.

Plugged in my PA Soft BMW scanner tonight, and found some horrific errors



ABS* -> 5E5C/20 - RPA push button Error.
5E1F/A0 - PT-CAN chassis number wrong / ECU not initialized.
5E16/20 - CAN Timeout instrument cluster
5E5D/A0 - Brake_fluid_level low / Switch faulty.
5E40/E0 - Steering angle sensor Signal not plausible, Offset.

Do that's most probably the problem..

I had the same error on my ex 330i and had to take my car to a dealer to reset and re-initialise the steering angle sensor. That resolved the issue.:thumbs:

Is this the reason why the light is not coming on when I press DSC? I fixed the previous problem, but the light won't come on when pressing the button, not even holding it, when I try to spin the car the light comes on to show that it's intervening.

I don't know, but my ex e46 330i had the TPM, DSC and brake lights on in orange. I then got the same error re. the steering angle sensor. I then took it to a dealer to reset and re-initialise the steering angle sensor and the problem was resolved.

So found the reason why it didn't turn back off again. Number 12 fuse.
