Hi Guys..

I dont know if any of you guys experienced this issue.
I have standard 325ti sport factory springs on my e46 330ci...
I noticed when i purchased the vehicle that the passenger front side sits way higher than the drivers front... Do you think shocks could be the issue?

might have collapsed , you should have them checked out

Shock on the right could have collapsed?
The car drives fine and seems good on the road.. but ya... a shock test would help?

Hi Kamz

Have you measured the springs to make sure that they are the same size? One of my partners (a meticulous individual) discovered that all but one of his brand new 335i’s springs are the “sport pack” kind whilst the front left strut had the usual/standard spring. I may mention that the same Dealer and various other dealers failed to discover this error notwithstanding the owner’s insistence that the car looked higher on the one side - his observation was dismissed for various reasons. The matter was eventually resolved when the owner, dealer who sold the car and a group of the Dealer’s technicians jointly measured the vehicle height and subsequently removed the offending spring “to first make sure that they didn’t measure wrong”. Needless to say, the labeling and description on the offending spring was confirmed that it was not “sport pack” springs.

Hi Evotheory

I somehow doubt it is the springs as this is the second set of springs on the car and the first set looked the same as this set...

Most cars sit a little lower on 1 side.. can be up to 1 cm or so.. On my E36 I thought the springs were stuffed, had a brand new set fitted with new shocks, it was a little better but still sits with drivers side lower. Also the hand brake pulls it more skew as well as it has more pressure on 1 side than other, must get that sorted.

There is a thread on this topic, will search to find it

Yeah i understand what you mean hey... but to me my car seems abit toooo high on the left... Someone at a shock shop once told me that the shock cannot affect the cars height??? So thats why i wanted to find out before i start spending cash on this

Maybe try swopping the springs left to right & see if the left then sits higher than the right..

I can try that but as i said another set of springs showed the same results...

I had that on a e90 a while ago that the car was lower on the left front by almost 15mm, I found that it was bad pothole damage on the shock and strut top

So the shock can affect the height?

No. If you go through a pothole too hard, then chances are you might damage the strut top (the place where the shock mounts on the top side. The metal can actually deform, popping upwards slightly, causing the car to hang a bit lower then.
