e46 seatbelt warning light

Hi guys, first time poster here.

I have a 2001 330ci and have recently noticed the seatbelt light coming on. It stays on for about 5 minutes, then goes away until the car is switched off/on again.
Is this a faulty pressure sensor in the seat? I have tested it with the driver and passenger seatbelts engaged, with a passenger and without, and all other combinations in between!
Anybody had similar experiences?

Thanks guys, any info is most welcome!

5 minutes or 5 seconds?
My E46 just have a timed seatbelt light that stays on for 5 seconds or so irrespective of whether you buckle up or not. If you do have the sensors, maybe check all connections and it could end up to be a faulty sensor.

Thanks HELLAS, yep 5 minutes. I will see if I can look under the seats - just a bit difficult to get under there being electric and all...
Also if you unclip your seatbelt while driving, does the light start flashing again?

It would be a great deal easier to find your problem if its wired up to a diagnostics machine, I would go that route instead of spending hours and hours checking connections that are not broken.

Yeah you're right - anybody in CT that can be recommended?
Also, something interesting I just read in the manual:
The seatbelt warning light also flashes if the backrest is not locked in position.
