E46 On Board Computer - LZ TO COMMENT ON CODING

I heard from the E46 Fanatics web site, that the E46's that did not come with OBC (BC Button on indicator stalk, & Display in Dash) are all pre wired & everything for it, you just need to get the indicator stalk with the BC button, & hook it up & Get BMW to code something because all the sensors etc are there..

Anybody know about this or done this?

yes I dont have that, so also dont have an outside Temp gauge..

i checked the net and it seems pretty simple , will check to see if i can get my hands on a stalk , then it business time

It should work on all cars and you need only the turn stalk with the BC button (which I dont have). Once that is installed you need the dealer to hook up the DIS and turn this option on

Obtain the stalk with the OBC switch feature:

The mechanical portion is very easy:

A) Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes

B) Remove air bag located in the steering wheel

C) Remove steering wheel (disconnect multifunction wire harness connectors first)

D) Remove stalk cluster

E) separate turn signal from cluster

F) reverse the procedure to complete this portion

Go visit the dealer. They will have to flash the software to enable the OBC.

Here is the MODIC coding menu

1) Go to ZCS Coding
2) Select E46 Series
3) Select Recode or retrofit
4) Select Kombi
5) Select Turn Signal
6) Enable OBC

You may get an error...just touch the OBC button to complete!

BMW will prob charge you for Half an hour work. Not sure what that is...

But my guess is any mac with a proper diagnostic machine can do this....

Dougs Auto - R500.00 Doug can do the flash for me aswell.

I SHOULD be able to do this for you guys next week, I am just waiting for my cable back and I got some new software bits as well that I am dying to test..

Patrick I am in JHB South. would dig to see if I can get this working... so ya, have not done it yet, but theoritically I have everything to do it

This however would not be a flash, it would just be an option change from what I can see, but I have the flashy bits as well....

I have the BMW INPA/SSprogman and GT1 so i could possibly do this aswell. Well i know the GT1 can .
