E46 M3 not turning off engine with the key

Hi Guys,

I am need of some help!!!!!

A buddy of mine has a E46 M3 that is giving him some trouble which is that, the vehicle is not switching off when the key is turned. The key can be removed completely from the vehicle yet the engine is still running.

Has anyone got any advice or assistance on what could be the problem and best way to resolve it??????

+1 on the ignition switch.

I also dont think you should be able to remove the key from the ignition when the car is started

It's clearly telling you it's not ready to go to sleep yet, it still needs to be DRIVEN :rollsmile:

It definitely has to be ignition like previously mentioned. Good luck :thumbs:

Ignition switch for sure....

If the switch registers off, the computer shuts down and the car will surely not run, so it must be ignition.
