Hi guys....can anyone pls advise me!

My e46 m3 is giving me a shudder and knocking noise only on aggressive launching
The car is smg....so in auto mode she drives fine....also on accelerating from 2nd gear up its almost as if ther is no problem at all.

I've enquiries about propshaft coupling , centre bearing and diff carrier bush....is ther anyone that can advise me on if polyflex bush kits will work and if it's nessesary to only buy oem bmw parts

I see that Goldwagon is selling genuine German parts with same part numbers as what one of the dealerships here have given me...

Ther are many variations online....is ther anyone out ther that has experienced this and over come this problem?

If there's no knock on hard deceleration and acceleration then I don't think it's your diff bush. But I am running powerflex and they're great

When you say shudder.. does the car vibrate? If so, where would you say the vibrations are coming from.

If you think it is in the center of the car just between the driver and passenger, then it may be the Guibo. Could also be the prop centre bearing.

In regards to diff knock, all e46 M3's get that. Replacing diff bushings and subframe bushings will fix that.

Thanks for your reply

There seems to be knocking coming from under the front seats....do think it's the Gino joint?
Is it also normal to give a hard thump wen selecting gears in sport mode and wen changing manually?

Lots of people have said its normal.....

Bmw technician from the workshop told me all the smg cars do that wen box is set on aggressive setting?

I've got this issue right now. 90% certain it's the propshaft bearing as I had replaced it before and had the same symptoms.

I took a video and you can hear the vibration at around 4k RPM:

Yeah I installed the entire powerflex bush kit on my e46

Wher did you get it and what did it cost you?
From moranor on the forum it it was about 8 or 9k last year November. That's all the bushes including subframe.

It depends at what point during acceleration you are getting the shudder.

If it is more a knock once you take up load in the drivetrain (dropping the clutch etc), then its more likely to be Guibo/Differential Bushes.

The fact that you think its more of a shudder, do you not think its the clutch on its way out? what happens when you are in top gear and floor it? Do the revs just climb and speed stays constant? This would also explain the position of where you are feeling it.

The final thinkg to check - which isn't fun to contemplate is the boot floor. It is well discussed on a number of forums about the boot floor tearing. If you can, have the floor checked for cracks especially around the Rear Subframe Bushes.
