E46 CATS REMOVE

Hi Guys 

i want to remove the cats from my E46 330i as I've read that there are gains in performance etc.  when they are removed .

Is there anybody reputable with good workmanship in the Johannesburg area. Any advise relating to the above topic will be most welcome

hi, i would swop the manifolds for catless E36 manifolds. Bolt on but some work will be required by exhaust shop to mate it to your current exhaust. There is a set available at the moment for a great price.

Call Viper and get a cost for a set of branches. I personally don't like the idea of using E36 328i manifolds, but I know a few people who have gone this route and are happy.

Don't expect big gains, especially if you are just removing the manifold cats.

ja that is first prize but made the suggestion as its budget dependent and seems the OP doesn't want to spend too much.

I used Viper for branches and full zorst, was about R6000 for 2x 3 into 1 branches. Make sure you keep your cat branches or if Abel is gonna keep them ask for a 20% discount. Other options are TNT exhausts, both companies make custom and prefabricated bolt on manifolds, prefab is usually cheaper.

My experience with Abel was good. The E46 Ci needs a narrower branch design and Abel changed out the prefabs for custom manifolds at no extra cost, top guy.

Once that catalytic converters are removed it will run rich.

Not an entirely good idea given that the extra cost of software branches freeflow will not yield a corresponding increase in usable power to justify the expense.

What do you do with the O2 sensors? Do they stay on the new aftermarket manifold or is there some coding that needs to be done to fool the fuel management system that the cats are still on the exhaust manifold?
