I would recommend you look at a 330i 6 speed gearbox with 330i clutch and flywheel. But if you are going to go with a 6 speed box, you gonna have to change your final drive ratio, that means changing your diff. Speak to Moranor about that, he knows whats best.

I destroyed my 2nd gear in my standard 1999 e46 323i gearbox in November of last year. Teeth ripped right off. I had to buy a new gearbox, clutch and flywheel. So, either be gentle on your stock gearbox, or upgrade... cause I learn't the hard way.

Another option for more engine response is looking at getting a Lightweight flywheel. I was running a lightweight flywheel and racing clutch on my car even before I supercharged her, but for an everyday drive car it got a bit tedious to drive. That being said, its response was lightning fast and revved up really quick. A lightweight flywheel can free up what would be equivalent to takin a 120kg of mass off the car, just by having to spend less power on a lighter flywheel.

My only ballache with the racing clutch was sitting in traffic with that was impossible. So I took her out.

But if you are looking for a lightweight flywheel, I'll sell you mine as I won't be needing it.

e90 6 speed will work :) you need to change your clutch, flywheel, shorten prop and linkages...

make sure you get a ZF box i got a getrag... im sure i will have to change boxes some time...

I must admit to being a little shocked that the gearbox is so weak. I relate this to my golf I had. We took the power from about 80-90kw (standard) to over 300kw and the box lasted fine......ok spider gears were very weak and did break a few times but apart from that the box over all was strong.

Is there a standard prop and linkages I could use and what clutch and fly wheel?

Is there a LS diff that will fit?

I think Crash is right. I will start with the gear box, and branches.

Anyone know where I can get a ZF box and required drive shaft in Jhb?

Perhaps I should start a build thread? Think anyone would be interested as its not a M3?

People will definitely be interested as most people have a 325 or 330. Not everyone here drives M cars... So ya, do a build thread.

you have to shorten your existing drive shaft :) i tried a 6 speed one but i still had to shorten it...

talk to Gizmo on the forum he knows what you need and can get it for you... he will probably do the conversion for you...

I'm would definately be interested, there was no 330 in the Coupe so I'll be going to 3.0lt at some point in the future.
