E46 330d Turbo Dumping Sound

I really didn't want this to turn into an argument either but the fact is that it sounds like a dumping sound and many diesel owners are experiencing the exact same sounds when tinkering with exhaust setups.

If my car is broken it has a very funny way of showing it as my mechanic removed the boost pipe from my turbo to check play on it and said it was in very good condition and shows no sines of wear or anything broken!

This sound appeared the day I drove out of powerflow with my new down pipe and decat a few months ago! before then I never heard any fluttering sounds or whooshing sounds or dumping sounds! so in my opinion we are just hearing all the sounds the turbo makes.

Also I had my down pipe made from mild steel not stainless steel as with diesel you don't need stainless steel as it apparently doesn't eat through mild steel like petrol cars, so maybe netercol has a stainless downpipe which would obviously not make things as audible as my down pipe? just a thought? :dunno:

Just seeing this I want to say I too did not intend for this to become a fight, I can appreciate the technical aspects of why these turbo's dont dump...

However like osiris said, there is an unexplained sound and I even loaded a video to demonstrate it and it gets louder when you do an exhaust.

So what is it? :nonono:

I never wanted to argue either, Netercol seems to have removed all his posts... :( I thought it would be a nice vid to show you guys what some of these cars sound like with a couple mods!

I would also love to know what the sound is caused from, it definately has a sound of compressed air being released especially if the sound happens when your close to a wall or when a car drives past at that exact time when the sound happens which causes the sound to amplify!
